Winter Knights: Round Tablers receive 213 blankets for needy

2011-06-13 00:00

THE Winter Knights campaign, a joint effort by Port Shepstone and Margate Round Table, received 213 blankets at a drive held at the South Coast Mall in Shelly Beach last Saturday.

Port Shepstone Round Table public relations officer Leon Garbade said Pep Stores generously sold the blankets to Round Table at a reduced rate.

“We then put a mark-up of R4 on the blankets. Proceeds are used to buy more blankets,” said Garbade. One blanket is bought using the proceeds from every 10 blankets sold.

Winter Knights is a national Round Table campaign and has been running for over 10 years.

All blankets collected are donated to organisations on the South Coast only, to local shelters and safe houses,” Garbade said.

The campaign ends on June 22.

“People are still welcome to donate blankets.”

Phone 071 682 6433 if you have any blankets to donate.
