HAUL out the woollies and brace yourselves: following snowfalls in the Eastern Cape yesterday, the temperature is set to plummet in KwaZulu-Natal too.

Snow is expected around the southern Drakensberg (Kokstad, Underberg and Matatiele) this weekend, said weather forecaster Lucky Makhwedzha.

In Underberg, the mercury will drop to a low of just one degree and a maximum of 10 today, with a 60% chance of snow and thundershowers in the afternoon, with similar conditions expected in Van Reenen.

Tomorrow, Underberg freezes to a zero minimum with a maximum of eight degrees.

Makhwedzha said there was a 60% chance of snowfalls at Giant’s Castle today and tomorrow.

He said Pietermaritzburg wold be partly cloudy with a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers. The temperature is expected to rise from a minimum of nine degrees to a maximum of 23 today, but to 16 degrees tomorrow. Durban is not expected to escape the temperature drop, with a maximum of 21 degrees predicted for today, and high of 17 tomorrow. — Witness Reporter.
