Woman from Nkandla found murdered

2013-05-03 00:00

THE body of a murdered Nkandla woman, who lived just a stone’s throw away from President Jacob Zuma’s homestead, was only discovered in her home days after the killing.

Dabukile Ndlovu (63) lived alone and it is believed that she was killed on Thursday last week. Her decomposed body was discovered in her home by a relative only on Monday.

Speaking to The Witness, Ndlovu’s brother, Thulani Ndlovu (49), said they were saddened by how his sister had been murdered.

According to the police, Ndlovu was found with gunshot and stab wounds.

Thulani said they found four spent cartridges and they believe Ndlovu had been raped because she was not wearing underwear when they found her.

Police spokesperson Colonel Vincent Mdunge said the motive for the killing was unknown at this stage and he was unable to confirm that she had been raped.

“A postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death and to ascertain whether she was raped,” Mdunge added.

Thulani said his sister was a widow and had no children.

“She kept to herself, was a pensioner and sold vegetables to her neighbours. As far as I know, she didn’t have any enemies,” he said, adding: “She suffered a terrible death and we’re deeply hurt.”

Thulani was hoping that the police would catch the perpetrator soon.

“As the family we’d be happy if they’d arrest the suspect,” Thulani said.

Police are investigating a case of murder and no arrests have yet been made.
