Women’s darts duo proved their strength — and scored the perfect 180 when it mattered

2014-03-27 00:00

TANYA Thomas was the toast of the oche last week at the Chirpers Drawn Doubles Cup and R10 singles open played at Hillary Sports Club.

She teamed up with Janine Irwin in the doubles cup, reaching the final where they met Tristan Sammons and Vincent Ceronio.

The women’s duo proved too strong in a 3-0 win in the best-of-five affair, with Thomas hitting the perfect 180 when it mattered.

She was at it again in the singles competition, hitting another 180 in the semi-final against Ceronio as she moved through to the final to face Tony Fisher.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t quite finish the evening with two final victories to her name, with Fisher pulling through 2-1 in a best-of-three match that went down to the wire.

Nonetheless, it was a good evening for Thomas with two finals and two maximums, nothing to scoff at.

On April 1, the Delmein Team Trophy is being contested at Yellowwood Park Club, with the R10 singles played afterwards. Players in the team cup are reminded it is a drawn double to start.

Registration for both events is from 7 pm to 7.15 pm, and players are asked to adhere to this time and register early.
