Woz’oPhola: bigger cash prizes for Soccer challenge

2012-08-21 00:00

ENTRIES for company teams are now open for The Witness Woz’ oPhola Corporate Soccer Challenge 2012, to be held at Dalry Park on September 15 and 16.

Cash prizes have been increased, with R5 000, a Woz’oPhola trophy and medals for the winning team; R3 000 plus medals for the runners-up; and R1 000 plus medals for the third placed team in the tournament sponsored by uMgungundlovu District Municipality and The Witness.

Event co-ordinator Mbuso Madondo said they aim to make the event even bigger and smoother. The first round is a round robin format with matches lasting 40 minutes. From the quarter-final phase the matches will be knockout affairs. Companies should register their teams early — no late registrations will be allowed. The games will begin at 8 am each day, running until 5 pm on the Saturday and until the final at 3 pm on Sunday.

Spectators may bring braai stands, camping chairs and refreshments for a full day of fun, with top local DJs getting the crowds moving.

Companies who would like to have hospitality marquees should contact Mbuso Madondo on 082 056 2693, but to register your company team at R900 only, call The Witness Marketing on 033 355 1165 or e-mail them on marketing@witness.co.za.
