Woz’ophola: football and fun for the family

2011-04-14 00:00

THE sponsors and organisers of The Witness Woz’ophola Corporate Soccer Challenge, which is presented jointly with uMgungundlovu District Municipality, gathered at the council chamber for a draw of fixtures yesterday.

This year’s challenge, to be held at the weekend, has 24 teams. The winner will take home R3 000 in cash, a trophy and medals, the runners-up R1 500 and medals. The tournament will be taking place for the second time and there are plans to expand it over the years. The games will be played at the Dalry Park Sports Grounds in Camps Drift.

Games will begin at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and the finals will be played on Sunday.

Says Sbonga Shelembe of The Witness,“We are calling the people of PMB to come in their numbers and support the tournament, especially on Sunday, because the day will end with a picnic where DJ Tira, and other local DJs like Sduz, Lipz, T Roxter and Honest will perform.” Four Durban artists — Sosha, Bullistic, Chaos, and DJ Oros — from Mbongeni Ngema’s KZN Music House will also be onstage.
