Young St Mary’s team do well in waterpolo tourney

2013-11-05 00:00

ST MARY’S DSG in Kloof sent a young team to participate in the annual St Stithians Jubilee water polo tournament last weekend.

This is a prestigious co-ed primary and high school event, with 20 top schools competing in each section. The event is also known as the “Stayers” tournament, meaning only pupils not leaving school can participate. This eliminates any matrics and allows a platform for developing players to prove their worth.

The St Mary’s side was made up of girls in Grade 8 and 9. Coach Tammy Sweet was pleased with their performance, which saw them finish ninth overall in the senior section. Along the way, St Mary’s beat St Dunstan’s, Rhenish and Kingsmead. Reddam House won the senior and junior girls sections for the third consecutive year.
