Zef: Parow gets live Moscow gig

2012-07-11 00:00

AFRIKAANS rapper Jack Parow will be introducing Russians to his unique brand of “kiefness” when he headlines the official opening party of the Puma Social Club in Gorky Park, Moscow, on July 19.

Speaking about the gig, Parow said: “Yes, blêrrie amped to be going to Russia! I’ve never been there and I’m ready for some extreme vodka drinking! Nazdarovya!”

Asked if he was concerned about the Russians not understanding his language, the rapper said it was unlikely to be an issue.

He added that some of his favourite bands, like Feeed from Germany, sing in German, but you “still feel the vibe and can appreciate the music”.

Said Eugenia Guslyarova,

Puma Russia’s country marketing manager: “We’re excited to have South African rapper Jack Parow as our headlining act at the opening of the Puma Social Club in Moscow for the first time ever and expect Jack to bring the real zef here.”

Parow has been enjoying huge success at home with his acclaimed sophomore album Eksie Ou, spawning the hits Hosh Tokolosh and Hard Partytjie Hou featuring Francois van Coke. Hosh Tokolosh was also the first Afrikaans song to reach number one on 5FM’s Top 40.

Parow’s first self-titled album achieved platinum status in album sales and the second album has achieved gold status so far.
