2015-01-31 00:00

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma yesterday expressed shock and outrage at the accident that claimed the lives of seven pupils in Imbali this week.

Zuma said it was a tragedy for the country to lose so many young lives.

“The pain felt by the families is immeasurable. We assure the families that our law enforcement agencies will get to the bottom of this incident.

“We wish to reiterate that it is important for drivers to use proper, lawful and roadworthy vehicles when transporting passengers, especially children.”

He urged drivers to be vigilant on the roads.

“On behalf of government and the people of South Africa, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to all those who were injured. May the souls of the departed children rest in peace,” he said.
