The Autumn/Winter Audi Joburg Fashion Week took place over four days at The Pavilion Room in the Sandton Convention Centre this week. It featured a line-up of prominent, established and exciting emerging designers to close a long-standing gap in the South African fashion scene. Nonzwakazi Cekete wrote the words and Mlandeli Puzi and Solomon Moremong took the photos.

Although it was an autumn/winter fashion show some of the designers thought revealing garments like this one would do just the trick in capturing the attention of the audience.

But who cares about the cold when you can look this yummy in a Fundudzi creation?

But winter will always be winter, no matter what, so warm fabrics in sophisticated colours like this from Fundudzi are essential.

But Marianne Fassler maintains any colour can be worn in winter - of course only if executed brilliantly like her creation here.

Colour or less colour, a back-to-my-roots outfit will always save the day.

And fortunately the look does not discriminate, as it can work beautifully on kids too.

On the other hand, who cares when blinging it on still dominates the runway, as David Tlale illustrated during his show.

Clearly Tlale is not the only one who thinks metallics are hotter than hot: Machere showcased garments like this one at the opening of the show.

Despite this, a little black dress is always vital to any girl’s wardrobe.

But who says women are the only ones who need a little black number? It is a must-have for men too.

But the obsession with black needs a break as bubble up dresses need all the attention they can get.

What certainly needs no concentration span is a wedding dress: so many dream to walk down the aisle.

Now that Audi Joburg Fashion Week is over and we are walking towards Sanlam South African Fashion Week at Museum Africa in Newtown this week, we hope the catwalk will continue to offer something unique and worth talking about.
