A SCANDAL at the Leeuwkop prison involving warders who accepted bribes from prisoners in exchange for allowing them to have sex, has been exposed.

According to sources inside the prison a correctional services' official, whose name is known to City Press, was suspended after a prisoner was caught having sex with his partner in the warder's room.

Correctional services < --> spokesperson Rudi Potgieter confirmed the incident and added the prisoner was taken out of his prison cell by the official under false pretences.
   Potgieter said an investigation was launched immedi ately after the incident, but the report had not been concluded.

The prisoner has since been transferred to Pretoria and the official suspended.

"Strict action will be taken against those guilty of such behaviour," added Potgieter.

Girlfriends of the concerned prisoners allegedly came to the prison posing as girl-
friends of the warders and were escorted to warders' rooms.

The women were then left with their jailed boyfriends to make love.

Sources say the women cooked sumptuous meals for the prisoners and warders.
