Moscow - Two Algerian officers studying at a Russian military academy were assaulted in a Moscow subway station in an apparent racist attack, a Russian news agency reported on Monday.
The two officers - identified as Hafid Buyazis and Tayep Muhamed Brakki - told city police that a group of men appearing to be skinheads attacked them late on Sunday afternoon, the Interfax news agency said.
The two, who are studying at the Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, suffered minor injuries.
A Moscow city police duty officer said he had no information on the incident.
Attacks on dark-skinned immigrants from Central Asia and the Caucasus region as well as other foreigners have increased in recent years in Russia.
