Tripoli - A prosecutor in the retrial of five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor accused of infecting hundreds of Libyan children with the Aids virus called on Tuesday for the defendants to be executed.
The prosecutor said: "The evidence has been established and after the confessions of the accused and the witness statements, I am calling for the most extreme penalty, which is the death penalty."
An initial trial in the eastern city of Benghazi condemned the six to death by firing squad in May 2004 in a case that had strained ties between Tripoli and Sofia.
