Kisumu - A curfew slapped on the western Kenyan city of Kisumu earlier this week has been lifted after an improvement in the security situation, say police.
"The curfew was lifted after the security situation improved," a senior police official said.
A daytime curfew was imposed on Monday on Kisumu, the country's third city and an opposition bastion, after violence broke out following the controversial announcement of President Mwai Kibaki's re-election.
