Pretoria - President Thabo Mbeki and Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will attend the inauguration of the President-elect of Namibia, Hifikepunye Pohamba in Windhoek, Namibia on Monday, the foreign affairs department said on Sunday.
Pohamba was elected president of Namibia following elections on November 15 and 16 last year.
"I am certain that your election will add impetus to the further consolidation and implementation of the African agenda and Nepad (New Partnership for Africa's Development) as part of efforts of the African leadership to push back the frontiers of poverty and under-development," Mbeki said in his message of congratulations to the new president.
He also said South Africa and Namibia would continue to strengthen their bilateral political and economic relations whilst continuing with their responsibilities towards the African Union and Southern African Development Community.
