US to train 40 000 peacekeepers

New York - US President George W Bush said Wednesday the US would train 40 000 African peacekeepers over the next five years as part of a campaign to prevent terrorists from exploiting weak states.

"Over the next five years, the US will provide training for mnore 40 000 African peacekeepers," Bush told the UN Security Council, saying the effort would help "preserve justice and order in Africa."
