Abidjan - Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo will go "at the end of next week" to South Africa for talks aimed at relaunching the peace process in the divided west African nation, national radio announced on Friday.
The talks, to be held in Pretoria, have been called by South African President Thabo Mbeki who has been mediating in the crisis.
Gbagbo was "very optimistic and thinks that thanks to the perceptiveness of this mediation, peace is within reach. We must therefore not miss any opportunity aimed at obtaining it," the radio said reporting on Thursday's meeting of the council of ministers.
