1m fake Viagra pills seized

Cairo - Egyptian customs officers at the port of Nuweiba seized a million imitation Viagra pills and aphrodisiacs on Wednesday in a refrigerated truck registered in Syria, a customs source told AFP.
The pills and the aphrodisiacs, worth an estimated 12 million Egyptian pounds ($2.1m), had been concealed in the vehicle, the source said. The nature of the aphrodisiacs was not revealed.
The Syrian driver of the truck was arrested.
Egypt authorised the sale on prescription of the male erectile dysfunction drug Viagra in December 1999.
Fake pills originating in Syria, Yemen, China and India are also available at a lower cost than the real thing.
