Bashir indictment 'worsens' feuds

Khartoum - The Sudanese parliament has condemned the indictment of its president by the International Criminal Court, saying it endangers vital peace agreements in Darfur and the rest of the country.
Ghazi Salah Eddin Atabani, a top member of the ruling National Congress party, read out the resolution at the end of a heated parliament session on Wednesday, where some 300 parliamentarians spoke against the ICC indictment and expressed support for president Omar al-Bashir.
The elected body's statement said charges of genocide against Bashir would "complicate the situation" and "abort the peace negotiations".
As the presidency oversaw all the peace treaties in the country, weakening it would only harm the peace process, added the statement.
