Egypt frees 900 Islamists

Cairo - More than 900 members of the clandestine Islamist group Jamaa Islamiya in Egypt, including its founder, were freed on Tuesday, said the interior ministry.
A ministry official said that the militants, some of whom had been imprisoned for more than 20 years, were released in groups for the past 10 days.
Najeh Ibrahim, one of the heads of the organisation, was among those released.
