Gaza City - Two Italian aid workers were kidnapped at gunpoint in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, a Palestinian security source said.
The abduction happened in Khan Yunis, in the south of the territory, the source said. The identity of the two aid workers was not immediately clear.
Kidnappings of foreigners have increased recently in the impoverished Palestinian territory, which has been mired in an unprecedented financial and political crisis for months. Most victims have been released unharmed in days.
An Italian journalist working for the Corriere della Sera newspaper was abducted in the Gaza Strip on September 10 but was freed safe and sound later the same day.
