Ankara - About 700 Turkish children were admitted to hospitals on Thursday for apparent food poisoning, said health authorities.
The children were taken to local hospitals in the western province of Balikesir after they began vomiting after lunch that included chicken, said senior provincial health official Mehmet Caliskan. None of the students were in critical condition, said media reports.
The children were from several different schools in and around the town of Ivrindi served by the same catering company, said the state-run Anatolia news agency.
Buses took the children to hospital. There were not enough beds and some of the students were treated in hospital corridors, Anatolia said.
