Addis Ababa - The United Nations (UN) mission monitoring the disputed border between Ethiopia and Eritrea (Unmee) said on Thursday the two sides have agreed to a plan of action to prevent attacks along the border.
Both sides have agreed to take steps to educate the population and increase vigilance in border areas, said Major-General Rajender Singh of the Military Coordination Commission, a task force including military representatives from both countries.
"The plan of action was discussed in a constructive environment and both sides expressed their willingness to co-operate fully with the Unmee to resolve all relevant issues," he said.
Military representatives from the two sides agreed to work together under Unmee co-ordination to resolve minor incidents locally, investigate all attacks and prevent loss of life, he added. - Sapa-dpa
