Bujumbura - A referendum to set up a power-sharing system for Burundi, originally scheduled for December 22, has been postponed again, the central African country's electoral commission said on Tuesday.
"The referendum will not take place on the 22nd (of December) as planned," spokesperson for the commission Astere Kana said, adding that a new date had not been set.
He said that electoral lists had not been published, and the law stipulated a 15-day delay after publication to allow for possible lawsuits.
It is the third postponement of the referendum on a constitution that would provide the framework for a power-sharing system between the majority Hutu and minority Tutsi ethnic groups.
