Monrovia - Liberian President Charles Taylor, speaking at his resignation ceremony, said he had accepted the role of "sacrificial lamb" and added: "History will be kind to me."
"I have fulfilled my duty," he said at a ceremony marking the handover of power from Taylor to Vice President Moses Blah.
"We must now put the past behind us," he said, urging the Liberian people and the international community to "seize this opportunity to help Liberia."
