Mayor condemns kidnapping

Mogadishu - The mayor of Somalia's capital is condemning the kidnapping of two foreign journalists.
Mogadishu mayor Mohamed Osman Ali said on Monday he is enlisting the help of Somalia's traditional elders "to help ensure the release of the journalists".
Media organisations confirmed on Sunday that two foreign journalists, an Australian man and Canadian woman, had been kidnapped near Somalia's capital Mogadishu on Saturday.
Journalists and humanitarian workers are frequently abducted for ransom in Somalia, one of the world's poorest and most war-ravaged countries. Foreign and local workers generally travel in convoys heavily guarded by freelance militiamen
