Khartoum - The Sudanese foreign ministry says it is prepared for the International Criminal Court to indict Sudan's president of war crimes in Darfur.
The Sudan News Agency quoted spokesperson Ali al-Sadeq on Tuesday as saying his government was "well aware that the ICC was nothing but a political tool" that would seek to "punish" Sudan.
The court's chief prosecutor has accused Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir of orchestrating genocide in Darfur.
Sudanese officials have lobbied the international community to block his possible prosecution.
No date has yet been set for the court's decision.
