Durban - The department of social development in KwaZulu-Natal will launch a third drug action committee on Friday, spokesperson Mandla Ngema said on Thursday.
"The department will tomorrow (Friday) launch a drug action committee at Hologo Stadium in Eshowe," said Ngema.
Other committees had been launched in Nongoma and Mtubatuba and were successful, he said.
The committees consisted of community members and representatives from all government departments who worked closely with the police to find people who sold drugs and those who used them.
Ngema said the department would also help municipalities in the province to start their own campaigns to fight the growing number of illegal substance abusers.
"The committee will also educate the community about dangers of illegal drug abuse," he said.
