Johannesburg - President Thabo Mbeki has expressed "shock and dismay" at the bomb blast which killed more than 80 people in Cairo, Egypt's capital, on Saturday, the South African government said.
"Our thoughts and prayers reach out to the people and government of Egypt, and in particular, the families of those who lost loved ones," Mbeki said through the foreign affairs department.
"(We) wish those who are wounded a speedy recovery," Mbeki said, adding that the government has not received reports of any South African who could have been "adversely affected" in the blast.
The South African leader sent his government's "heartfelt condolences" to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Egyptians and their government.
