Dar es Salaam - Tanzanian police have arrested seven people suspected of smuggling cocaine concealed inside a corpse, said officials on Sunday.
Officials said the seven were arrested after police discovered 57 sachets of cocaine hidden inside the stomach of a cadaver.
The seven had claimed the body was that of a relative who had died in Zambia and was being taken home for burial.
Regional police commander Suleiman Kova said officers, working on a tip-off, had stopped a car in the country's southwestern Mbeya region, seized the corpse and ordered a post mortem.
After the post mortem, 57 sachets of cocaine were recovered from the intestines.
The seven will be charged in court later this week.
