Kibaki: I deserve another term

Nairobi - Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki on Sunday launched his re-election campaign for a second and final term in polls expected in December.
Kibaki, 75, told tens of thousands of supporters in the capital's Nyayo Stadium he deserved a second term on the basis of the country's improved economic performance since he came to power in 2002.
Kibaki, representing the new Party of National Unity, will face veteran opposition lawmaker Raila Odinga and former foreign minister Kalonzo Musyoka in the contest for the country's top post.
He currently trails Odinga in the latest national opinion survey in which he garnered 38% against Odinga's 47%.
Although applauded for economic growth and introducing free primary education, Kibaki's record has been blemished by two major graft scandals which cost the country millions of dollars.
No date has been announced for Kenya's fourth multi-party elections since pluralism was re-introduced in 1992.
