Cape Town - Provincial and Local Government Minister Sydney Mufamadi left for Kinshasa on Tuesday morning to help the Democratic Republic of Congo government get the country's peace process back on track.
Mufamadi's spokesperson Xolani Xundu said Mufamadi and seven officials from the president's office were expected to stay in Kinshasa for two days.
"He is going to be speaking to all the role players in the peace process in the DRC. We are expecting them back on Thursday or Friday," Xundu said.
South Africa hosted and mediated peace talks that led to a 2002 accord to end a four-year war in that country, setting up a transitional government until elections next year.
A fresh crisis erupted last week when former rebels led by a dissident general captured a major city in the eastern region.
