Paris - France's Foreign Ministry says a French aid worker has been shot to death in Chad.
It says that aid worker Pascal Marlinge had worked in eastern Chad with refugees and displaced Chadians.
The Save The Children organisation in Britain says that Marlinge was working with it.
It says he was riding in a convoy of relief agencies near the Sudanese border when it was stopped by a group of armed men and shots were fired.
The group says it is suspending its work in Chad until further notice because of Thursday's killing.
France already has lost one soldier in eastern Chad who mistakenly drove into neighbouring Sudan recently and was shot.
