The Zille, ANCYL drama

2009-05-13 09:36

Chris Roper

Well. This is a turn up for those paper things people used to read. It seems that, except for beauty, talent, education, intelligence and style, DA leader Helen Zille is an exact carbon copy of ANCYL-biters leader Julius Malema.

Yes, an aghast world has been treated to a crazed Zille tirade about our beloved Dancing Prez, Supreme Leader Jacob Zuma.

These are the actual words that GodZille uttered, laced with expletives, insane grammar, wildly false accusations and racist invective:

"Zuma is a self-confessed womaniser with deeply sexist views, who put all his wives at risk by having unprotected sex with an HIV-positive woman."

Unbelievable! That someone, especially someone who is suspiciously blonde, can use such inflammatory language in this day and age! The measured response from the ANCYL-biters (or African National Congress Youth League, for any foreign devils reading this), was the following gentle reproof:

We are "disgusted by remarks attributed to the racist girl Helen Zille, who when failing to defend her stupid and sexist decision to appoint predominantly white males into her Cabinet, attacks the President of the Republic of South Africa.

"Zille has appointed an all male Cabinet of useless people, majority of whom are her boyfriends and concubines so that she can continue to sleep around with them, yet she claims to have the moral authority to question our President."

'Fantastic feminist agenda'

As unwilling as I am to criticise the logic, restraint and acumen of the ANCYL-biters, I should just point out to them that they appear to have misunderstood Zille's statement about her relationship with her Cabinet.

Lads, when she says it's Platonic, she doesn't in fact mean she's shagging Cape Town's new philosopher-mayor Dan Plato.

Ah, the ANCYL-biters and their fantastic feminist agenda. The untrained observer will probably notice that, "ironically" (to use a racist term), the ANCYL-biters Exco is entirely male.

But happily, it's littered with feminists, such as Supreme MiniMe Julius Malema, famous for his poststructuralist analysis of behavioural norms among ANC slags. ("When a woman didn't enjoy it, she leaves early in the morning. Those who had a nice time will wait until the sun comes out, request breakfast and ask for taxi money.")

But still... maybe one token chick on the Exco would have been better. Oh god! I said chick! I forgot that the feminist ANCYL-biters have banned that word as derogatory, ever since the Nando's ad. (Oh, my mistake. As pointed out by reader Rudi, there is a woman on the exco, they just don't use her picture on their proudly male masthead.)

But enough of that debate. It just detracts the world's attention from the evil utterances of Helen Zille. But wait. Some pundits are claiming that Zille brought up the unfortunate history of Jacob Zuma precisely for this reason.

"Rather than try to enter into a genuine debate on the representivity (sic) of her Cabinet," Patrick Craven Cosatu's spokesperson said on Tuesday, "she has tried to deflect attention from these serious allegations with a disgraceful, and totally irrelevant, slur against President Jacob Zuma. "

He's got a point. Why does Helen Zille have an all-male Cabinet? Well, not all male. Fairly importantly, the leader is a woman. Or "lady", as new Cape mayor Dan Plato refers to them.

Rile up the ANCYL-biters

But if you're in the market for deflecting attention, you need only get the ANCYL-biters riled up. Calling Zille a "fake racist girl" is hardly the way to establish your feminist credentials.

Telling the world that you're going to bliksem her if she doesn't learn her place, is not really the way to get women (many of whom eat chicken!) to embrace you as defenders of freedom.

But the real giveaway is when you claim that South Africa "will never be a Mickey-mouse republic like she wants to portray it". That would be so much more effective a gibe if you could actually spell Mickey Mouse.

Not that I insist on correct spelling in a country where English is only one of eleven official languages. But in an official communication to the world, one that you expect to be taken seriously, can't you make it look less like the petulant spewings of a sugar-maddened child?

I mean, come on. You can spend thousands of rands on parties, but you can't fork out a couple hundred for a copy editor? No wonder nobody takes you seriously until you threaten them with violence, sorry, "militant action".

they are both behaving like children. the difference is that we have come to expect that from our least favourite youth but are a little surprised at Zille. Malema is making a fool of himself though if he thinks that calling Zille a girl is hugely insulting. he just sounds as petty as always. must admit to not really taking all this too seriously. i should i know, but when Malema enters any debate i just see it as a child completely out of his league, trying to sound like an adult.

Alien Dude 5/13/2009 9:54:19 AM
good one Chris....do you think comrade julius is going to mobilise his army of chickens ???

Pieter 5/13/2009 9:57:04 AM
I am so tired of the mudslinging between the ANCYL and DA - this really puts everything into perspective.

Paul Young 5/13/2009 9:59:07 AM
Are all the idiots, including Zille, ever going to stop their crap and get on with service delivery. Can they not leave the slagging off to the columnists until the next election. We have elected our officials for better or worse, now everyone needs to support those officials and monitor service delivery. Help all ministers, premiers and civil servants deliver. And for goodness sake will all media stop repeating Julius Malema unless he says something intelligent.

AW 5/13/2009 9:59:52 AM
Great article Chris. Seems like everybody is jumping on the bandwagon but not looking at the facts!

lloyd macklin 5/13/2009 10:01:35 AM
I find the reaction to HZ's remarks totally out of proportion. Nothing, in what she said, can be construed as insulting. It's simply the truth. The pavlovian response from the ANCYL was expected but the response from people who should know better is of concern. Editorials stating that she has 'over stepped the mark' pander to the masses and are inappropriate. One cannot shy away from the truth about Pres. Zuma'; he is tainted.

madie 5/13/2009 10:04:53 AM
Firstly Chris, I love your column and you ascerbic wit. It makes my day every time. Secondly, as a woman (although not a feminist) I say go girl (if that's what they - being the ancyl-biters - want to call her. Go Girl Go. Keep all the "boys" on their feet!!

leslie 5/13/2009 10:05:28 AM
Chris, get your facts right. There is female representation in the National Executive Committee of the ANCYL. There is not enough female representation in the Western Cape cabinet. I just think Zille's comments are distasteful. The ANCYL's response is worse. We deserve better and fulfilling national discourse. Not these shenanigans.

Mayflower 5/13/2009 10:05:52 AM
I really enjoyed this, thanks Chris!! Ancyl, what a bunch of idiots!! (Sorry, I couldn't resist...)

waynersa 5/13/2009 10:05:53 AM
I am not impressed with Zille's comments and feel that she should move away from attacking Zuma and rather focus on his policies and government. Then again the ANCYL-biters and all the other affiliates comments are way more inappropriate and inflammatory.

Clare 5/13/2009 10:06:45 AM
Chris, fantastically written but unfortunately will not be understood by the majority...keep up the great responses!

sphumelele 5/13/2009 10:07:17 AM
for ANCYL to talk like that is uncalled for but for Zille to attack the countrys president is down right arrogant. this alone is an act of racism. its ok when Zuma was president of ANC but of the country?!?! it shows how badly she wishes cape town was a country on its own. have you noticed shes the only one who said zumas cabinet is bad? welcome to the republic of cape town.

Michelle 5/13/2009 10:07:53 AM
Chris, you are brilliant as always!!!

GroenGert 5/13/2009 10:09:04 AM
Probably the best column I have read on this site. You can't help wondering what these ANCYL-biters are smoking... They probably have some scantily clad Zulu maidens that roll and light their zols for them.

BLACKsoWHAT! 5/13/2009 10:09:34 AM
is said and done i hope it does not detract from the REAL issues, by now we all know what they are no need to reitarate. These little squabbles seem like a form of procrastinating and i feel the less said and discussed about the better. GET TO PPL!!! Looks like a second version of 'All My Children'.

CS 5/13/2009 10:09:47 AM
I still don't understand why this lot are given so much air time. That being said, probably because you couldn't write a script that's as hilarious as their profound, articulate and constructive political viewpoints. They should be relabelled the ANC Juvenile League because their emotional, unrestrained rants closely resemble those of a bunch of petulant 7 year olds. I'm so bored with it all, seriously

Evan 5/13/2009 10:10:57 AM
Nice writing Chris. However, this sort of satire is waaaaaaaay over the heads of the targets of the satire, so slightly pointless. Satire only works effectively when the subjects of the satire are at least educated enough to notice that they're being satirized :-)

Crispin 5/13/2009 10:11:23 AM
Yes, the fuss is all about the All Male Cabinet, but the big fuss is, thats its ALL WHITE! There i said it. If it was a black men, the ANC would have been quiet. They dont care if it doesnt have women, they care becasue its all WHITE! There i said it!

moegoe 5/13/2009 10:11:25 AM
If they're so big on debate why not let Jacob Zuma defend himself by debating the issues with Helen Zille? Zuma is apparently so full of reconciliation to the opposition, but then he sends out the "stoepkakkertjies" of ANC Youth League to go out and slander, rather than ever having a face-to-face discussion with the leader of the Official Opposition. Just like the ANC insists we must get used having Zuma as a President, they must get used to having a legitimate opposition with a real voice.

Ryan 5/13/2009 10:11:33 AM
"fake racist girl", does that mean she is not a racist? We will carry on being seen as a banana republic if we continue wasting our time and money writing children stories about each other except for the use of explicit words. What happened to professionalism?

Wil 5/13/2009 10:11:47 AM
You hit the nail on the head, Chris. It's been said that we get the leaders we deserve: what can we possibly have done to deserve Spurious Melanoma?

Wayne 5/13/2009 10:11:54 AM
Yes, yes yes! Brilliant article! The country is full of people who, like me, cast their democratic vote in favour of someone else but are now willing to give Jacob Zuma a fair chance as President of our country. I am, by the way, a 29 year old, white, English speaking male - the most unholy demographic of all! This conciliatory feeling is harshly tested by the idiotic rants of this rambling moron though. All is not lost however, since everytime Julius Malema opens his mouth he makes it more and more clear to those around him (and the world in general) that he is nothing more than an ignorant, stupid, tantrum-throwing, psycophantic thug who is using the ANCYL as his own personal soap box from which he will threaten "militant action" (which as Chris points out is nothing more than good, old fashioned South African violence) against anyone who disagrees with him or his beloved Jacob Zuma. Soon even his own party will be forced to realise that this man has on place in an honest, democratic government. The day Zuma fires him... I may just become a fan!

QuintonS 5/13/2009 10:11:56 AM
And you owe me a new keyboard! There was coffee everywhere! The heading is a beaut but expect an application form from the ANCYL-biters. They are going to think you actually like them now as they ignorantly misunderstand your satire ... again. I agree with you (this time). I consider myself a cynical optomist so am prepared to give JZ a chance (no other option) but his immoral, violent and fraudulent past is like a bad dream I just can't seem to shake. And Zille is asolutely correct.

JB 5/13/2009 10:12:52 AM
A brilliant and well written letter Chris but I can't help but think...... would have got your message over better if you had drawn a pictuer .I wonder if malema and the rest can read ?????????

clear-headed 5/13/2009 10:14:39 AM
A little bit of humor goes a long way in a situation like this - the alternative is to be really angry and scared! All that Helen Zille did was verbalize an obvious truth - one that the ANCYL really doesn't want to be heard. I am genuinely concerned about why Zuma hasn't publicly reprimanded Malema for his idiotic rantings. Are they cast from the same mould?

Confused 5/13/2009 10:14:48 AM
Absolutely NO idea what point you're trying to make Chris.

Paolo 5/13/2009 10:16:12 AM
Thanks Chris, I did think that Zille bringing up Zuma's past was a little silly but nothing compares to the awesome amount of nonsense that the ANCYL can spout. You neatly outlined exactly what I was thinking. ps : "majority of whom are her boyfriends and concubines so that she can continue to sleep around with them" can we have some evidence before we take him seriously.

Yari 5/13/2009 10:18:27 AM
Are the ANCYL the presidents spokespeople? What is militant action - definitely not a democratic process? Please can Malema et al grow up and learn to debate. The only racists are those in the farcical organisation known as the ANCYL (creche) who sledge better than Australian cricketers. Please can someone put the new education ministries to good use and offer these ANCYL children a free education - i don't mind my tax money being used to do it!

suzie 5/13/2009 10:18:56 AM
After being accused for not looking after female rights when appointing her staff she said that the ANC is also not so great on female rights. Let's have a look at it. Is it fair to a woman to be one of THREE wifes (think of emotional damage and trauma) and then to sleep unprotected with a HIV person and then with these poor wifes again. AND then it is ok and you can be the president. Zille picked competence

Daffy 5/13/2009 10:19:59 AM
Thank you Clint, but the only difference I see between these two is only education and colour. They have no style or intelligence and are only talented at throwing tantrums.

Realist 5/13/2009 10:20:20 AM
Here we go, the tru test of the ANC was always going to be when they lost. And now, we see how they percieve democracy ..... they will stop at nothing to destroy the Western Cape, even if it means all its residents suffer. The ANCYL could be the final resting place for uneducated illiterate uncouth buffoons. What kind of idiot writes a press release like that?

Sharon 5/13/2009 10:20:49 AM
Excellent Chris! You hit the nail square on the head! Brilliant column!

Andre 5/13/2009 10:21:11 AM
I'm also shaking my head in embarrassment. Can people really be this stupid?

JayB 5/13/2009 10:21:50 AM
Unfortunately the majority of the readers will not acttually "get it", good luck with the flamers and trolls.

CJ 5/13/2009 10:22:13 AM
Such a pity that the ANCYL-biters will have no clue whatsoever as to what you wrote! *wwhooooshh*

MARIO 5/13/2009 10:22:27 AM
Well said Chris. I love it when HZ pisses on the plugs of these little snotheads who do not repsect their elders especially in a country where respect for your elders were held in high esteem.

jerry 5/13/2009 10:23:21 AM
the little rabid biters surely suffer from a severe case of ADD. they cant even remember wether they had nando's or kfc yesterday , nevermind what the honourable president did to deserve these observations.

Simon 5/13/2009 10:23:55 AM
Forgive me if I have misunderstood your article, but I'd like some clarity. Please can you explain, CLEARLY, what is racist, wildly false or grammatically insane in Zille's comments? It's not enough to simply state that something 'is' the case; as a responsible journalist you are *required* to explain the reasoning behind your thought processes. Surely by having intercourse with an HIV+ individual, and subsequently with others, they were put at risk? Why not?

possum 5/13/2009 10:25:05 AM
How exactly is Helen in any way like Julius? What she said is the truth, and you can spin it any way you like, Zuma put his wives at risk by sleeping with an HIV woman. Fact! What Julius said is slanderous, I hope she nails his B^*^lls to the wall. Yay Helen, you go girl!

AL 5/13/2009 10:27:36 AM
Thanks Chris you bring a smile to a dial. Pity the gist gets lost on Chez, leslie and others

SeanO 5/13/2009 10:28:04 AM
be sure to sleep with one eye open, Mr Roper, because if you are not already, you soon will become a prime target of the ANCYL, for a prime beating. Like that chop 'TAS', (I think) threatening to make western Cape ungovernable... violence is how the mentally challenged solve their differences. It is people like these who are a real threat to SA's future.

Glanskop 5/13/2009 10:29:03 AM
NOWHERE in my life have I seen such a bunch of pansies as the ANCYL. Uneducated, racist themselves, unintelligent and self-serving fat cats who are trying to lead to masses into obscurity.

GdM 5/13/2009 10:30:03 AM
Excellent column Chris. Long live media freedom

Franz 5/13/2009 10:30:35 AM
Well said Helen. I do not know why the ANC and Cosato is up in arms as he did expose his wives to HIV and AIDS.

Point Blank 5/13/2009 10:31:07 AM
Leave the holy herb out of this! Besides, I too am tired of all the fighting between the ANC and the DA, sick of it! Let's knuckle down and get this country back on track for ****s sake man!!! No time for this really, it is only the politicians that are still fighting with each other, the rest of the country seems to be getting along fine.

WCS 5/13/2009 10:31:22 AM
Well said, the irony in this whole saga is just too much for me. It amazes me everyday how these people simply just does not get it. Ai!

Dan 5/13/2009 10:31:44 AM
Come on Helen, don't be chicken. Help Julius with change. Great read Mr. Roper, as always.

critical thinker 5/13/2009 10:31:46 AM
I was just thinking, maybe Helen and Julius are in love, without them understanding why they are so obsessed with each other. If Julius take her out for chicken, he may even get lucky and get to pay the taxi fee.

Point Blank 5/13/2009 10:32:23 AM
It's not all white....

mlungisi 5/13/2009 10:33:25 AM
Everybody sees the Zuma cabinet as good start and optimistic about it. Even De Klerk is optimism. She is the only one who thinks the cabinet is bad. Instead of trying to fix the mess in Western Cape cabinet that she created on her first day as premier. She is getting more arrogant. Mr president we are behind you all the way.

sd 5/13/2009 10:33:43 AM
Why arrogant? Oh I forgot in your eyes he is god! She has the right to state the truth....but let's wait and see who will be the ones to do their job...Zuma and his cabinet, or HZ. I can't want to see who wins!!

Shantih 5/13/2009 10:34:08 AM
Brilliant article! I was impressed that Zille had the guts to say something I (and I'm sure many others) have felt all along. The mentality of not telling the truth because it might hurt someone's feelings is very worrying... Go Zille!

Majik 5/13/2009 10:34:11 AM
Truth hurts doesn't it!

Awesome! 5/13/2009 10:34:23 AM
Chris...this is the stuff legends are made of! I tip my hat to you Sir..haha

Simon Says 5/13/2009 10:35:11 AM
...phrase of the month is: "militant action".

Convinced 5/13/2009 10:35:51 AM
"Zuma fire Malema"? I think not - that action would make JZ very popular, indeed. However, when Julius reaches puberty, he might just find himself with a place in governmunt. How scary is that?

Suzy 5/13/2009 10:36:58 AM
Since when are we not allowed to say bad things about our president? does being president suddenly mean he is above the rest of the world and no one is allowed to say anything that isn't positive and happy about him? And Zille didn't say anything that isn't total fact - Zuma admitted sleeping with a HIV+ person, then slept with his wives, therefore they are at risk... how is this insulting???

Johnny 5/13/2009 10:38:02 AM
Chris, you really good at this! Your message adds spice to the day. However, our Woodwork Specialist will not understand you - could you add some pictures to ease the comprehension .... Maybe JM should become Mayor of Pofadder to really grow into a real politician! Was Zille not voted best Mayor cant wait for her to do same in her new post! JM, grow up!

Sean 5/13/2009 10:39:32 AM
The day Zuma fires him... I may just become a fan! - Wayne ====================================== Me too.

D 5/13/2009 10:41:30 AM
If ANCYL is representative of the next wave of leadership heaven help us. Julius will probably get the same mindless support that the current batch enjoy.

Zola 5/13/2009 10:41:30 AM
Pres. JZ should and must not even thing about debating issues with Zille. She is just too arrogant, this will not be a debate but Zille insulting the President. As South Africans we should not allow our President to be insulted under the guise of a debate. ZZ

Ivan 5/13/2009 10:48:30 AM
Well put my man, I almost pissed myself at the clown they have as a media representative on eTV this morning. If ever the ANCYL flew their colours it was this morning and on national TV nogal. Ha ha, what arseholes the ANCYL are. Viva Zille Viva, My country, MY DA, MY future,MY Leader,

ric 5/13/2009 10:49:23 AM
Well done! You should check the other article titled "Zille's behaviour 'shocking'". Funny that the same people that are reading and commenting there cant do the same for this article. Hard to debate over lies against the truth or reason against nonsense.

Skeptic 5/13/2009 10:49:42 AM
If I remember correctly only one woman was in the ANC provincial government (Zodwa Magwaza) apart from Lynne Brown, hardly representative of the "population make-up" referred to know. Then nothing was said. I do not agree with with the all-male cabinet, but I suppose that is HZ's prerogative, and if she can get the job done with these people, then it is fine! But all this mud-slinging is not really necessary.

Nature 5/13/2009 10:49:44 AM
I knew this dodgy article was going in whose direction, the only way to stop this is 'Can someone come up with reference as to where in the rape transcript did Pres JZ said that' Other than that its mere a repeatation of a "corrupt relationship between JZ and Shaik" saga that jugde Hillary Squires never said, but the media wanted us to believe and failed to prove it.

Ali 5/13/2009 10:50:06 AM
I don't understand how the ANCYL can call he comments racist? she didn't mention his race only his behavior as a man. What a great article, I would prefer if the ANC could leave Helen Zille alone to do her job but I guess politics is a dirty business

Ivan 5/13/2009 10:50:49 AM
.. who have not as yet seen the interview with the ANCYL on eTV as yet, do yourself a favour and watch it when you get home, what a joke! And if you are a member/supporter of the ANCYL, you will see why we are laughing at you.

Ima 5/13/2009 10:51:42 AM
You are oversimplifying the story and comparing Malema to Zille doesnt add any insight. What are you trying to say we dont already know? I dont care what Malema or the ANCYL says or does, I didnt vote for them exactly for the reasons you mention. Yes he is less educated, less attractive, less stylish, less intelligent etc. No news there. What bugs me is that you imply that because Malema is a idiot, Zille has the right or rather the duty to be one too. I expect more from the people I voted for.

Kishore 5/13/2009 10:52:09 AM
Hello people - these are our elected officials - our democratic choice freely exercised. Did Brigalia not explain it clearly enough - we were electing our leaders for the next five years not our entertainment - enjoy.

chris 5/13/2009 10:52:20 AM
How old is Malema? being the YOUTH LEADER you would imagine this would a good training ground for young upcoming leaders, if they were serious about improving leadership.

Busi 5/13/2009 10:52:28 AM
Why must Zille stoop down to Julius 's level I wonder?I f you call that intelligent then we are all doomed

HvR 5/13/2009 10:53:46 AM
Well put. One would think at this point Zille would have more on her plate than to engage in this type of nonsence. Malema? Of course he is an idiot. But remember, his predecessor was as bad and now he is a deputy minister! One of these days Malema might be running for president!

Ratel 5/13/2009 10:54:12 AM
Don't worry about being confused. You are with the majority of SA voters on that one.

Buffy 5/13/2009 10:54:18 AM
brilliant as usual!

fnd 5/13/2009 10:56:12 AM
Paul, "And for goodness sake will all media stop repeating Julius Malema unless he says something intelligent." A brilliant idea! We'll never hear from him again. Confused, Are you a member of the ANCYL?

Nesh 5/13/2009 10:56:52 AM
Wow, you assume that most people won't understand the satire here. Come on kids, how times did your mommies have to read it before they explained it to you lot? Yawn....You must feel pretty smart now

Peter 5/13/2009 10:58:44 AM
I did vote DA, but I think I made a big mistake. The way Zille is going on about Zuma must come to a end.

Fraud 5/13/2009 10:58:57 AM
but the ANCYL exec does have female representation...but i suppose your column has nothing to do with facts, but only opinion. Good read none-the-less.

Bruce 5/13/2009 10:59:47 AM
Good one, pity your target audience wont understand it. I think Hellen could have been more circumspect about her response to criticism however truthful her comments might have been. She needs to crack on with delivery now. This Julius guy is a hoot.

Hoping for change - R66.05 to be exact 5/13/2009 10:59:56 AM
I have been saying from the beginning that the media is over-exagerating Zille's statements and seems as if it is favouring the ANC. I may be wrong though. But all in all Zille should stop slinging mud back and ingnore the petty atempts by the ANC to brand her as sexist/racist and get on with her job, let the ANC burn their name by continuing the onslaught on Zille.

Sunshine 5/13/2009 11:00:55 AM
We elected Zuma to be our president the sooner you accept that you were defeated the better. As for Zille stooping down to julius's level well what can I say? the women has lost it completely!

kamawa 5/13/2009 11:00:59 AM
HZ really played in the yard of JM, and His cronies.I could not believe thier response i hope Mr Pres doesn't comment on this nonsense this is for the narrow minded crew.

susie 5/13/2009 11:03:21 AM
great article Chris. Somehow I don't think the sarcasm will register with any of them, if they even read your column. One has to speak slowly and be v-e-r-y l-i-t-e-r-a-t-e.

Giles 5/13/2009 11:07:37 AM
Dictionary defines concubine a woman who cohabits with a man to whom she is not legally married, esp. one regarded as socially or sexually subservient; mistress. 2. (among polygamous peoples) a secondary wife, usually of inferior rank. 3.(esp. formerly in Muslim societies) a woman residing in a harem and kept, as by a sultan, for sexual purposes. Firstly, they are WOMEN,so calling an all-male cabinet concubines is simply wrong. Also look at #2 - sound familiar?

Kingzile 5/13/2009 11:08:03 AM
Hellen zille is an embarrassment and I am quite certain that even some people who voted her in power will really begin to see who she really is. I am suprised that Zapiro is not drawing anyhting about this angry mad woman

Jo-Anne 5/13/2009 11:08:07 AM
I find it astonishing that JZ supporters are so deeply offended by what Helen Zille said. What she said was absolutely true, by JZ's own admission. Yes, it was a bit unkind, but maybe someone should point out to JZ's fans that the real world is rarely kind? In contrast, Malema's statement was vicious, and more importantly, false. He really is a joke. If only he knew how completely absurd and laughable he appears to people with brains.

CC 5/13/2009 11:09:31 AM
Zille at least spoke the truth, boring as it was. Malema said things like "she shags her cabinet and they are her concubines" and that "she was dropped on her head as a child". A petulent little idiot, that Malema fellow. Truly, it is embarassing!!

Mike 5/13/2009 11:09:59 AM
I tend to agree with 'Trouble ahead'. Though not a supporter of the ANC or DA, I find this backwards and forwards between HZ and Malema to be ridiculous. Service delivery is what it's all about, now - post elections. The scary thing about Malema is that he is the future of the ANC! I hear sounds of Mugabe and his tirades against the 'West', in the whole 'racist Zille' remarks. Does he have a clue the price she paid for supporting Democracy in this country? Clearly not. Come on Malema - grow up.

J Cilliers 5/13/2009 11:12:16 AM
To say that Zille attacked our President (sic) is really something I don't agree with. If someone states facts, within a governing or management body to draw the straight and narrow lines clearly it's not an attack, in my opinion. Wait, what am I saying? Zuma, straight & narrow.. BWAHAAHAAHAA!!

Shantih 5/13/2009 11:12:24 AM
@ Nature - please do something about your grammar, I couldn't understand what you were trying to say. And to everyone who thinks Zille is becoming too arrogant because she dared to tell the truth about our tainted president- since when are the people not allowed to criticize their leaders? What next? Will we be thrown into jail if we voice an unpopular opinion? Dangerous...

Comfort Matheba 5/13/2009 11:13:47 AM
i find it quite funny how your article attacks the ANC youth league and Malema, but does little to Helen Zille whilst the heading and brief summary sounds like its blaming both...when will SA journos give a non subjective view? this kinda analysis is reali tired. give fresh objective column ppl. flip

PatcheS 5/13/2009 11:14:13 AM
Why is it that every time someone criticizes the ANC they are called racist? What Zille said was below her, but the response to her comments, was completely wayward.

pala 5/13/2009 11:15:05 AM
MALEMA is right.

P85 5/13/2009 11:15:10 AM
Go ms Zille! In a perfect world, a premier of a province should appoint people who can do the job, without being called sexist or racist. ms Zille knew the appointees would be able to do what is required of them in the long term. All this bickering and complaining from ANCYL would be all done and forgotten in a month or so's time, but in the long term, service delivery and stepping up to the plate would matter. The ANC can learns from this, get the best candidates in the right positions.

Jenny 5/13/2009 11:16:05 AM
Helen's got bigger balls than her entire cabinet. And as a woman, damn I am glad she's on my side. Julius needs a good old-fashioned klap.

Johan 5/13/2009 11:16:18 AM
Zille = 10 males, so women are equally represented in her Cabinet.

sly 5/13/2009 11:17:34 AM
Can't these people put their differences and start doing what they were voted for? They need to start getting along for our country's sake

Laps 5/13/2009 11:18:30 AM
An analysis of comments and their sources above sent a chill down my black spine. If these is how SA races feel and think about each other I won't be surprised to see another Rwanda in our back yards. Just one spark is all it will take. Grow up people, ehh South Africans!

Craid 5/13/2009 11:20:11 AM
It is suprising to read some racial comments here. South Africa will never change with people like Zille, she needs to change and accepts that South Africa is for all not the minority.

Rudi 5/13/2009 11:22:15 AM
While I agree with most of the article your information regarding the ANC youth legue is execo is incorrect. Vuyiswa Tulelo is part of the the ANCYL exceo committee and she is indeed a woman. http://www.ancyouthleague.org/home/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=50

AJ 5/13/2009 11:22:26 AM
At least it was based on fact (and Zuma's testimony himself in the rape trial). And people it is hardly backwards and forwards. HZ made one utterance and the ANCYL have replied, plus Mantahse, plus Cosatu plus, plus etc

corp.co. 5/13/2009 11:23:45 AM
Really disappointed in Zille....did not think she would stoop to Malema level

nyiks 5/13/2009 11:24:18 AM
just because the article blasts the ancyl more than hellen zille(all lower case, have no respect for the racist girl) it's a brilliant article? you lot need help seriously!

mabzzzzzzzz 5/13/2009 11:26:13 AM
JZ business is non of our business, stats say" one in every three cheats" 33.3% of all men in relationship expose their partners HIV/AIDS so some of u men r doing it too its just that you havent been exposed.

AJ 5/13/2009 11:30:10 AM
You say it was ok whern he was president of the ANC only - rubbish, because you guys were saying the same things about her and one else who criticised Zuma then. Stop changing facts to suit your story.

Stefan 5/13/2009 11:30:20 AM
Wow - that people actually still use words like that in a civilised nation. Zille is just playing the big game of politics though and the ANC are livid that they lost the Western Cape - I wonder how long they are going to stand for that.

Busi 5/13/2009 11:31:50 AM
They tried everything to make us not to vote for Zums but guess what? that did not help we still went ahead in numbers and voted for him.....majority rules, get that? we are a majority in this country, get that? whether you like it or not we will continue to rule.....adios see you next election and guess who's gonna win.......yeah you got that right the ANC....so my suggestion pack you bags and move to Oz

outsider 5/13/2009 11:32:08 AM
Haha, they had a talk with one of the ANCYL members on the enews channel last night and all he could say was, that they have it on 'good authority' that Helen Zille is sleeping around, and that she should prove them wrong, and the presenter kept on trying to explain to the man that they made the statements they should come up with the proof...Bunch of clowns!!

garyh 5/13/2009 11:34:39 AM
Zola, everyone nows that JZ will not enter into a debate with anyone with a brain, as he cannot think on his feet, Everything he says is scripted and written by someone else. You now it, I now it, and all the sheeple now it, hence him ducking and diving when invited. HE will so blow his cover in a debate, lets see if it ever happens in any form of debate! As for Julius, he can barely string a sentence together, so how will the ANC debate anything?

Phinah 5/13/2009 11:40:01 AM
Especially when it is said by a white female. Are there no BEE candidates in DA, who could have done the job in WC? Surely there should be at least 1 coloured DA member leaving in WC, who knows how to perform the MEC' duties?

Wilhelm 5/13/2009 11:40:43 AM
Great article, it adds a little intelligence to the subject at hand. No surprise then that almost no ANCYL supporters have responded in this forum, except for the confused ones still trying to understand the article.

ANDRé 5/13/2009 11:52:45 AM
This tri-logue between Zuma, Zille and MAL EMMA is very childish. When you are in politics, you attack and comment on the Political Party and NOT the individual! I am loosing respect for all, as it seems these persons are now trying to impress the electorate with a mudslinging contest, instead of getting down to business to benefit the Country and all its people!

Hesten 5/13/2009 11:55:32 AM
Great article Chris! I just can't believe that Zuma puts up with Malema. I wonder what he has on him. Malema is the 'ultimate idiot'! Zille's comments were unnecessary, but in no 1st World Country will you see such a childish, brainless excuse for a response. Malema can't even be classified as 'Mickey Mouse', that would be unfair to Mickey. Sort it out Zuma!!!

malcolmx 5/13/2009 11:55:48 AM
This can cause hot flushes, hormonal imbalances and irrational behavior on the odd occassion with women. Thats my excuse for Zille, but whats Julius's excuse. He is neither a woman, nor a grown up. He is still in his youth, which for a Zulu or Xhosa, I am lead to believe by some leading ANC officcials can be anything up to about 50 years old.

Pierre 5/13/2009 11:57:14 AM
"Zuma is a self-confessed womaniser with deeply sexist views, who put all his wives at risk by having unprotected sex with an HIV-positive woman." So the above statement is not true? He does have multiple wives and he did sleep with an HIV-positive woman.... sometimes the truth hurts.

Annie 5/13/2009 11:57:52 AM
What she said was the truth. Was they said? Do they have proof of this? She should sue for defamation.

M 5/13/2009 12:01:20 PM
You can't even spell your name, hence your "deep" perception of this pretty shallow article that compares apples with flying pigs and then declares them to be equal.

Theresa 5/13/2009 12:02:32 PM
Thanks, what a great read!

Gee 5/13/2009 12:03:06 PM
Peter you are lying you voted AZAPO and you now disappointed, if you voted DA and you are not in WC there is no problem, we will welcome you to the world of Majority and as christian are majority in the world and it is going remain that way until we all die same goes to ANC. Membership forms available chao.

Baby 5/13/2009 12:04:06 PM
I think news24 readers need to get a life. This is unbelievable, mourning, complaining and criticizing as if thats going to change anything. you people are as boring as it gets.Stop complaining about things that you cant change, its such a waste of time.

Phathu 5/13/2009 12:04:25 PM
They are both idiots, c-mon the elections is over. Me think Godzille is suffering from PMS. Me also thinks that cde Julius is on some drugs.

Antarctix 5/13/2009 12:04:29 PM
Thanks Chris, great article, as usual.....

JHK 5/13/2009 12:05:51 PM
Get YOUR facts straight - Chris was talking about the ANCYL executive committee, not the NEC...

M 5/13/2009 12:05:52 PM
Don't worry, your pres JZ negates any advances made in female rights at home/work place etc. Then again, you are an African and male and I know how you treat your women back home. DISGUSTING

z 5/13/2009 12:06:41 PM
you know he really is a joke and suffers from foot and mouth disease every time he opens his mouth he stick the WHOLE OF THE ANC'S FOOT IN IT

Mike 5/13/2009 12:09:25 PM
I wonder if the ANCYL's response was written in crayon? Cause that was a juvenile response to what Zille said. You see those kinds of remarks in primary school. Coincidence?

Kukza 5/13/2009 12:11:45 PM
Zille we have heard enough of all this shower issue likewise we have heard enough of failed service delivery blamed on apartheid.Zille should answer the question about her cabinet composition maybe after explaination we will see a positive outlook and she should stop raising Zuma's issues that we know about. Her answer was not relevant to the debate.

hmmm - yeah right 5/13/2009 12:11:47 PM
From an European's point of view: the politics of this country are a JOKE!!!! I no longer watch sitcoms - I watch South African Politics! HAHA (shower after sex, millions in rands to defend this ONE guy, 2 billions of rands for the new cabinet, 70 million rands for a show off at the inauguration, 1st grade language from Julius Malema, sexuality at its best in politics, Beetroot medicine for HIV, resignation of finance minister causing near-collapse on the JSE, Shabir and Scorpoion drama etc etc

Donovan 5/13/2009 12:13:12 PM
So is Zille wrong in saying that by having unprotected sex with an HIv+ woman Zuma put his wives at risk? Is it not a medical fact that he did? And he did admit to having sex with the girl that he knew was Hiv+. The truth hurts doesn't it?

Chris Roper 5/13/2009 12:18:28 PM
sorry, my mistake, despite the masthead of the ANCYL website, there is indeed a woman on the exco. Still, the masthead says it all. Thanks for pointing that out, Rudi.

Ryan 5/13/2009 12:19:19 PM
Thanks Chris, we do need honest atricles like yours. I do think that, while Zille needs to stand her ground, she ought not taint her good name with remarks and comments that draw negative attention. She must sincerely and honourably lead by example now when it matters most. I don't like the implications of "militant action" - we will not be laughing then!

Tebogo 5/13/2009 12:19:27 PM
Why can't the two leaders just get along? If they did I think that things would be much better. is there something we are not taking note of?

SB 5/13/2009 12:19:37 PM
Helen's comment, although out of line, was based on fact...can't say the same for mini me...Oh and just love the stoepkakkertjie phrase Moegoe, just brlliant!

Cm 5/13/2009 12:20:03 PM
The ANC Youth League needs a nice new name, something like ANCC - ANC Creche, just for the idiots that are in it and are indeed making more trouble than what they deserve, like a bunch of toddlers. So there we have it, two new names for the ANCYL, The ANCC - ANC Creche, and The ANCT - ANC Toddlers :)

Ebbs 5/13/2009 12:20:28 PM
Chris, I applaud you! I thought there weren?t any non biased people left in this world. Thanks for proving me wrong. If only I could be proven wrong on politicians now?

Dawn Motloheloa 5/13/2009 12:20:28 PM
Bill Clinton had an affair with Lewinsky (7 diff encounters). He denied at 1st, later admitted, was charged & acquited.Pres Zuma slept with an HIV postive woman, admitted it, took an HIV test that came back negative & apologised to the nation.Clinton: forgiven & forgotten. Zuma: still being prosecuted by the public & Helen Zille. Would it kill Zille if she supported Zuma's presidency? And you wonder why people think its racial. Ohh I forgot, whites perceive blacks as blaming everything on racism.

Anonymouse 5/13/2009 12:20:37 PM
Great article, but I have to take issue with your reference to Helen's beauty. Oh well, I guess that's subjective, and each one is entitled to his own taste...

Bobby Mc Intosh 5/13/2009 12:22:47 PM
Couldnt have said it better myself. Also agree with outsider - Its insane! Taking into account our current government - next time, I'm voting Mickey Mouse.

tony 5/13/2009 12:24:36 PM
Julius (old man) and his ancyl are to "chichen" to respond.

Nix 5/13/2009 12:26:35 PM
Racist = prejudiced against all people who belong to other races. Now maybe an ANYCL-ger can explain to all educated, but confused, S'Africans (and yes ALL SA's means every and any race, religion or sex) exactly what paragraph, sentence or word is racist about the following FACTUAL statement: "Zuma is a self-confessed womaniser with deeply sexist views, who put all his wives at risk when having unprotected sex with an HIV-positive woman."?? I've tried but no luck yet!

Ron 5/13/2009 12:29:08 PM
What a complete rascist, disrespectful moron - he must have been an unsuccesful abortion because no one in their right mind could want such a plonker as a family member. Helen stop wasting your time with these illiterates and concentrate on service delivery to prove them all wrong once and for all.By the way ANC sheep,JZ is not God and therefore can be criticised for stupid actions past, present and future, if you don't like it tough!

Recato Cristiano Eberwein 5/13/2009 12:29:16 PM
All bow down to Comrade Julius Malema. The Premier of the Western Cape, Premier Helen Zille must please stop attacking my saviour and President. If the President of the country came to me and said he wants to have sex with me that would be my duty towards him. VIVA ANC until Jesus comes! Viva Malema. Viva the mother of the nation Comrade Winnie, Viva Communist Party. Viva Dr Mulder for knowing that the ANC is the only way to go. Please bring back the galllows for the non-believers.

Warren 5/13/2009 12:30:51 PM
With all the whining and pooh flowing from his mouth these days the ANC better get some repairs done to their ?little puppet? as I fear he is falling apart! But let truth be told he is starting to sound like a little girl with all his yakking on and on... the racist tones to his threats seem to make him to be the racist little girl he keeps referring to, maybe he just need a hug to come to terms with the DA's WIN in the Western Cape!

S'bu 5/13/2009 12:31:00 PM
Chris is a great article but remeber that HZ is older and she the one to show the young man the correct way. She a leader of a province and the time & energy she waisting about looking the past of some opposition party rather than change the life of poor people in WC. UP to Pres JZ an empty can make a lot of noise. So our Pres must forcast on her. I think she got a crash on Zuma. Zuma is our pres and all of us wether we like it or not he is, let us focus on changing this country to a batter. Sbu

Karen 5/13/2009 12:31:52 PM
These people are so shocked that they lost the western Cape. I am amused at the obsession people have with Zille. She must be the most well known premier in history. Nobody has ever discussed a premier as much as we have her. Do all these people who are obsessed with her and slinging all kinds of abuse and false accusations like calling her a racist, not realise that it is in fact themselves that are racist? Do you even know who the premier is in your own provinces?

Mike F 5/13/2009 12:33:31 PM
was inappropriate. She has been widely criticised about it, but she chooses to respond only to the ANC. Her response was over the top, & then the ANCYL went way over her top, to prove who is top of the pops. In fact Helen Zille is the only male in her cabinet. She' got balls.

CH 5/13/2009 12:37:05 PM
I think the NANDO puppet should not be auctioned just yet. I'm sure it can be used in the future as well. Maybe dress it in military clothes as that is the only way Malema seem to prefer resolving issues. I'm so sick and tired of his 'threats'!

Karen 5/13/2009 12:39:05 PM
Is that what is upsetting you , that Zille is white? I know for a fact that that is what is upsetting all the ANC racists. You guys are just so disgustingly racist and then have the cheek to turn around and accuse others of the very thing that governs every thought that crosses your small minds. You look first at the colour of the persons skin, and then no further. To you if its black its good and thats all that counts, otherwise you demand to know why it is not black. With all this stupity, arrogance and uncivilised behaviour you are losing support for your cause. People are starting to understand the rationale for apartheid, please stop and start acting like people instead of insolent children. We really want this to work and you are not helping with your attitudes.

JD 5/13/2009 12:39:08 PM
Look up democracy in the dictionary. Winning an election does not exempt a political party from criticism. Get that? Who should move to Oz? White people? Maybe you should read the Constitution while you're at it. If you want to live with the results of a one party dictatorship I suggest you pack your bags and move to Zim. I hear it's real nice.

paradise 5/13/2009 12:39:37 PM
I THINK NOW IS THE TIME MALEMA TO REALISE THAT RESPECT I NEEDED IN THIS COUNTRY

suzie 5/13/2009 12:39:43 PM
You say Malema is right...as apposed to crazy? Because you can't mean right with his comments about Zille

lee lee 5/13/2009 12:42:23 PM
Oh and Julius Malema is NOT an emarrassement?? Zille may have fought back in the same manner but at least it was the truth and not some made up words thrown into a sensless sentance. Well written article Chris as always.

Daile 5/13/2009 12:46:00 PM
After being attacked by the ANC regarding her male Provincial Cabinet Helen replied with a few home truths about the ANC leader. The hysterical rantings of the ANCYL is to be expected but anyone with half a brain knows that South Africa's President is tainted, not only by his self confessed sexual behaviour but by the cloud of dishonesty that will hang over his head until he stops wriggling out of appearing in court to clear his name.

Skeptic 5/13/2009 12:50:04 PM
Read the full letter from HZ to the Argus in the correct context @ http://www.da.org.za/newsroom.htm?action=view-news-item&id=6732

Lewis 5/13/2009 12:54:30 PM
At least the bunch of idiots at the ANCYL circus ensure loads of entertainment and laughs. Typical. Zuma is not my president, so I will say what I want to about him and everything Helen Zille said is in any case the truth! You go girl!!!!

Gary 5/13/2009 12:55:34 PM
Right you two...into the garden...handbags at 20 meters and then quit the crap...BOTH OF YOU...

Patience Nozibele 5/13/2009 12:59:52 PM
Guys please enough is enogh, we just had enough about these politiciance nagging at one another cant we just give them chance to carry on with their work, there is so much to be done for this country please

Envious Durbanite 5/13/2009 1:01:18 PM
I'm thrilled the DA won control of the Western Cape, as what the country needs is a true multi-party government. Unfortunately many (like the ANCYL) don't seem to understand that dissention is good and healthy in a democracy, and cannot handle criticism, constructive or otherwise. I was disappointed in Zille when she stooped to throwing insults back at the ANCYL, I thought she was above it. However, she, like Zuma, now has a chance to prove herself. Let her use it well.

Ant 5/13/2009 1:01:44 PM
Leslie - you say there is female representation in the ANCYL NEC. Does she have a name, or would you be referring to Julius Malema when he is pre-menstrual (which seems to be every day, BTW)!!!

Frans 5/13/2009 1:02:07 PM
What a great read

Thabo 5/13/2009 1:03:34 PM
If Zille hopes to go down in history as an astute and sensible politician she cannot afford to be dabbling in the ANC Youth "league" with all its low standards. She has nothing to gain from this so I suggest she exits that league and get on with the business of running the western cape.

DA voter 5/13/2009 1:08:03 PM
Please tell us someting we dont know!!!We know Malema's english aint the best,we know that he acts childish but what we didnt know is that Zille is also a childish girlie that cant get over the fact that Zuma is her president. She spent so much money to "Stop Zuma" and for what?It was an excercise in futility. She should mature as should all you people who dont see the wrong in her statements. Lets give Zuma a chance and stop crucifying him for something he apologised for.

Good chuckle 5/13/2009 1:08:51 PM
My G*D! I haven't had such a good laugh about SA politics in a LONG time. I think this article sums it up......

Mpho 5/13/2009 1:11:06 PM
Hellen Zille's this is a democratic SA you have an option of migrating to your Volkstaat (Western Cape) we were able to take the country away from you democratically deal with it or take the option above

Mpho 5/13/2009 1:11:23 PM
Hellen Zille's this is a democratic SA you have an option of migrating to your Volkstaat (Western Cape) we were able to take the country away from you democratically deal with it or take the option above

hustler 5/13/2009 1:12:00 PM
Chris, thanks for your refreshing commentary. you are good at what you do. can't wait to read the next article. great stuff. as always

Grumpy Taxpayer 5/13/2009 1:12:51 PM
The truth hurts Chris Roper!!!! We don't have to like or love the president!!! I sure did not vote for this Neanderthal.

JEDLB 5/13/2009 1:13:20 PM
Hmmmm, let's see. Could we all just take a deep breath and then take one step back and put everything into perspective? Whether Helen Zille's statement was appropriate or not, was it in any way factually incorrect? Does a man who has unsafe sex with an HIV+ woman, and then who has sex with his wife or wives not endanger the lives of those people? Of course it does! The people throwing tantrums over Zille's statement secretly know she is right and they're just trying to hide their embarrassment .

Attorney 5/13/2009 1:14:17 PM
I think Zille is trying to remind us that Jacob Zuma may be HIV+ and may in fact be a threat to others. This is self-confessed, not something Zille is making up. And of course, whilst maybe not guilty of rape, Zuma is a self-confessed adulterer! Talk of moral standard...

rodger 5/13/2009 1:14:42 PM
SECRETARY-GENERAL Vuyiswa Tulelo. I dont think that SHE will like being referred to as a man. - Rodger

Japes 5/13/2009 1:23:15 PM
I don't know what the fuss is about an all men cabinet, if you listened to Zille's comments after the anouncement she stated that she apointed the best person for each section. So what if she could'nt find any competent woman to appoint, just let her run the WC. It's also not an all white cabinet, there are a mix of colour. Go Zille your comments are valid! ANCYL sucks!!!!

lg 5/13/2009 1:24:09 PM
had me laughing from start to end. lets just hope the dont come after you now chris

Loving it 5/13/2009 1:24:38 PM
How could you not have know Zille had a hidden agenda for ZUMA... All her posters said so..!! Yet you still chose to vote DA.

johnson 5/13/2009 1:24:49 PM
You are just another incompetent journalist who favours sensationalism over facts. She was QUOTED OUT OF CONTEXT!!! Read her letter to the Argus, you fool!! She was responding to a remark by the ANC calling her sexist because of the make up of her cabinet - which she selected on the basis of competence and not sex - unlike the African National Criminals! Moron!

AW 5/13/2009 1:33:41 PM
The whole story has been blown out of proportion once again. Please read the letter from HZ before you comment. http://www.da.org.za/newsroom.htm?action=view-news-item&id=6732

jack 5/13/2009 1:35:56 PM
as always, an outstanding article that offers a refreshing perspective into issues/events. great skill Chris. as always.

Olivia 5/13/2009 1:38:20 PM
To those who are wondering what this means, the spokesperson for the ANCYL was on radio last night and he said they are still going to decide what militant action is

OH PLEASE 5/13/2009 2:00:34 PM
Chris, that was one funny article, you got me crying at work...Mickey Mouse, chick...sadly the team that should be reading this just wont and those that do won't get it! I think someone needs to state it that the pres (holier than thou) is not immune to AIDS and it is downright irresponsible of him to be doing what he does...please respect...do he and his cronies respect woman...not a chance!!!

MJS 5/13/2009 2:09:06 PM
Methinks the ANCYL protest too much - but shows exactly how the ANC would deal with any party good enough to kick its backside in future - MILITANT ACTION. But then again we are talking about a group of people who do not understand the meaning of concubine and that their beloved prezzie has an army of those. Another query - does ANCYL then mean that that is the normal way ANC women win their posts - this is why they are so sure that HZ is kanoodling her staff???

nosferatos 5/13/2009 2:11:48 PM
Lol Malema is an idoit without facts as to where the whole world knows Zille is talking facts please someone fire Malema due to incompitence. As to BEE claims in Zille's Cabinet who cares those who support BEE are racists at the end of the day and base job equallity only on race and not on job capability just like JC only has one white deputy minister it also Zille's choice to employ those who she believe can do the job, a true sense of democracy as to BEE represents the rich Blacks.

Lejane 5/13/2009 2:14:03 PM
It's exactly this kind of slinging from the ANCYL that has given the DA the majority in the Western Cape; so why now do they not change their strategy? Why are they still continuing with this strategy which will in the long run lose the ANC MORE votes in the Western Cape? Weird....

madoda 5/13/2009 2:30:55 PM
As much as what Zille said about Zuma was true likewise what Malema said was true ie some of the men she appointed sleep with her and that she brought them in to have a quickie in her office. Ihey were both speaking the truth

T 5/13/2009 2:53:48 PM
Why is it okay for Malema to insult Mbeki when he was president, but not okay for Zille to do so to Zuma? ANC are a bunch of hypocritical racists!

Vamp 5/13/2009 2:53:51 PM
at least Julius never fails to amuse me. He's such an idiot, it's hillarious. Have to feel sorry for the poor sod. Can't be easy going through life like that.

Viper 5/13/2009 3:06:11 PM
It seems that anytime someone goes against the ANC they are labled. There is always the threat of public violence "Militant Action" and it reminds one of what is happening a little further north of us. If say, do or stand up to us in any way we will beat you into Submition... Please come to the Western Cape and PLEASE I ask you with TEARS in my eyes try and bring violence "MILITANT ACTION".. I will be the first in line to greet you with the same kind of VIOLENCE. I have had enough. Bloody Idiots

Phinah 5/13/2009 3:15:52 PM
Clearly WC is not lived only by whites people. Are there no indians & coloureds within the DA who are competent to deliver on the services that were promised? I am no ANC supporter, but I think Helen Zille was trying too hard to make a point, and hopefully for your sake, the point she is trying to make will reflect in the kind of service that will be delivered to the masses.

Thandos 5/13/2009 3:17:15 PM
Hellen & Julios needs to grow up and act like adults

MJS 5/13/2009 3:25:30 PM
Your comment nearly made me giggle as much as the mudslinging from chickenboyand his crew. So can we then assume that the women in JZ's cabinet also slept their way into parliament..oops ok, they normally sleep in parliament but anyhow. Is this the "progressive" "thinking" engendered in the ANC populace nowadays? Is this what the "people" think a women must do to get ahead - oops excuse the pun

L 5/13/2009 3:26:52 PM
...jealousy makes you nasty. Unless you have first hand experience here?

allan 5/13/2009 3:27:47 PM
I expected zille to leave the rhetorics behind and focus on the mandate she has been given in the western cape .

L 5/13/2009 3:30:03 PM
Someone had to say it out loud :)

Cayenne 5/13/2009 3:32:40 PM
Nice piece Chris bt I doubt if Malema & his muskatters will relate, the elections are over &ts back to service delivery, for her to be engaging ina verbal ping pong with Malema she is just applying for mental stress. Zille must learn to keep heropinions about JZ to herself & start fulfilling the promises that she made to her people in the Republic of CT, Malema is just causing a mass destruction since its his speciality.

BLACKsoWHAT! 5/13/2009 3:37:20 PM
"If the President of the country came to me and said he wants to have sex with me that would be my duty towards him." This is the funniest comment i've heard thus far and here i thought you were male.

KGS 5/13/2009 4:03:22 PM
With Zille and Malema around, who needs to pay for comedy shows.

Baf87 5/13/2009 4:32:49 PM
The gentlemen clearly doesn't understand that all your thoughts don't necessarily have to be utterances and for Zille to actually make such meaningless statements when questioned about her cabinet reveals her true colours. Reminds me of the the proverbial phrase "A fortunate fool has no need for wisdom"
