Steve's storm in a teacup

2008-12-19 08:40

Colleen Figg

With this business of throwing tea into Esmare Weideman's face, Steve Hofmeyr once again displays the ill breeding he is becoming known for.

His inability to control himself - which seems to lie at the very root of all of his problems - has manifested itself in ugliness and violence before. Somehow though, to me, this little bit of nastiness has placed him quite beyond the pale.

Steve appears to be one of these "celebrities" that operates in the microcosm of South African entertainment, who thinks he's royalty because a few people at the Pick 'n Pay in Rustenburg clamour for his autograph on a Saturday morning and some purple haired tannies come over all queer when he struts about the stage copying Neil Diamond (the only thing he's actually any good at in my opinion).

The essential mistake Steve makes, as do others who fall into this bracket, is to confuse success with entitlement to preferential treatment. With this sense of entitlement comes the idea that manners can be dispensed with, as though manners are something you use to smooth your path through life and can be discarded once your path is considered smooth enough.

Where do you come from?

No doubt my remark above pertaining to breeding will have several people foaming at the mouth, because we live in a world where one must not be classist or elitist or anything - it's because shame man, people can't help where they come from.

But true good breeding has nothing to do with where you come from, it has to do with an ingrained sense of moral integrity, a soundness of character that can withstand the severest of tests, without loss of decency. It encompasses a dignity of being that means you take responsibility for your own mistakes and for the consequences of those mistakes.

I was not thrilled when I first heard that Hofmeyr may have love children he does not support, but I was prepared to put up with that because I know the world is not perfect and we all make mistakes. Likewise, his recent affair and separation from his wife I considered to be none of my business; marriages break up every day, people are unfaithful every day.

But to throw a cup of tea into a woman's face in public, or at all, is ill-bred. To blame that individual for the lack of children and Christmas trees, when that lack is caused by your own behaviour is boorish. To think you are entitled to dispense with manners because you're famous is ignorant.

Mr Hofmeyr's true colours have come shining through, it seems.

I have to agree with you, he seems to be his own worst enemy. Just when one crisis dies down, the berk does something new (and stupid) to splash his name all over the news, and then gets grumpy because he is being judged. What a twit.

nthatuwa 12/19/2008 8:56:01 AM
All I can is LOL over this one.Is the guy on 'something?',painkillers, cough syrup, too much coffee,or drugs maybe?

Terminated Steve Fan 12/19/2008 9:08:51 AM
Steve, I forgive you everything up to the point where you attacked a woman

Val 12/19/2008 9:12:22 AM
the wheel has finally turned. It's time the public and the media ignore this has been and leave him to his sorry self!

X 12/19/2008 9:20:46 AM
Nothing sucks like a Steve Stofsuier.

Rrrrr 12/19/2008 9:25:30 AM
vrot pampoen or what.....

JP Strauss 12/19/2008 9:25:53 AM
Has anyone tried to find out what it was she said to him? What if one of us were in his shoes? How would we have reacted? It's easy to criticize with a cup of coffee in your hand, but what if you were trying to patch up a marriage on the brink of disaster and you run into the person whose magazine is destroying your best efforts?

Psycho 12/19/2008 9:27:28 AM
But you journo's are also to blame in most instances ... how about writing from his point of view as well and not being a band of thieves. Please note I don't like the guy 1 bit ...but this story has been a 1 sided attack on a man, granted, with a short fuse !!

Paullie 12/19/2008 9:28:03 AM
An article well written. This country and especially its children, already lacks morals and ethics. Respect if a thing of the past with people, political leaders, doing and saying what they want at any forum without thinking. The youngsters pick up on this and act the same, because famous rich people do it. ?How can it be wrong if they do it?? Steve, lead by example. You are an embarrassment to all South Africans.

A REALIST 12/19/2008 9:33:03 AM
In my opinion, he is the master of his own disaster. Very silly to blame your own ultra-stupid behaviour on a magazine or newspaper that reports it. After all, he is a "public" figure. Steve, grow up, take responsibility and act like a true man. You owe Esmare a public apology!

Bekke 12/19/2008 9:34:07 AM
JP, you do not want to be in his shoes: They are damn ugly!

Just Me 12/19/2008 9:35:57 AM
No matter what she might have said to Steve it still doesnt excuse his behaviour but then when was he known for his "positive" behavior ?

Lynn 12/19/2008 9:36:02 AM
What - his ratings were down? He didn't get enough publicity being a prat in the last year? Wouldn't it be easier just to go to a club and be photographed? Being the eternal optimist I'm sure that deep down he's a nice guy (ok probably not) but to stoop this low....

AC 12/19/2008 9:36:15 AM
Steve, just some advise. Castrate yourself and all other senses and manners and humblesness will fall into place!!!

RJ 12/19/2008 9:37:21 AM
I agree that there are three sides to the story and that we should not always believe what is printed in the media. BUT, Steve must take responsibility for his behaviour and the events that follow it. Especially because he is "celeb" (I use that term very loosely) You can't expect to have a "pomp" in every dorp around SA and expect your wife to be happy with that!

gummibear 12/19/2008 9:37:22 AM
Can't stand his smugness. Always switch the channel when I hear that croak. Shame his "acting" is worse than his singing. Agter elke man...is n vrou tevrede. Maar nie as jou naam Steve HofDrol is nie. Hope he burns his overgrown ego, which I hear is inversely proportional to his penis. Esmare, I'd give you a hug if I could!!

Citizen Cane 12/19/2008 9:38:16 AM
It is called Steve Hofmeyr. This is an extremely potent substance when mixed with a supersized ego and a false sense of self-worth. What a twit! as Sarah said

Jackie 12/19/2008 9:39:44 AM
It is NOT any journalists fault that he is in the trouble he is in. Its all his own doing. If he kept his pants on and behaved like a civilised human being he would have his kids with him. Poor Natasha has had to put up with how many stories about his wayward ways. Hes a jerk & needs to get over himself....hes not Gods gift to women believe it or not.

Ray 12/19/2008 9:41:57 AM
I think its unacceptable for Steve to have behaved that way and he cannot blame the media for his own actions. There are plenty of people in the public eye criticised by the media who don't go around throwing things at people. If you don't want to be the subject of media speculation, conduct yourself in a manner that won't invite it. Shame on you Steve!

Vrystaat 12/19/2008 9:42:18 AM
Once again, we the public place people on pedistals and then when they fall we all jump on them and kick them while they are down. Any person who is born in the Free State and then thinks he is a Blou Bul, will always be confused.

Ryan 12/19/2008 9:43:00 AM
I think all the Steve nay sayers are being very hypocritical! She constantly ran negative articles about him without having any first hand experience or knowledge of the situation between him and his wife. Yes he has made mistakes, but so have we all. I think she deserved the tea over the head... She single handedly turned a great Afrikaans family magazine into a pile of trash! Go Steve, you did what I wish I could've!

Stryker 12/19/2008 9:45:57 AM
This little man is an insult to men everywhere, he needs to be taken outside and given a damn good hiding, the little twit!

Christine 12/19/2008 9:47:21 AM
YOU & Huisgenoot are known for their "Jerry Springer" type of stories which most times are totally untrue. That is what these kinda magazines do to get readers to buy their magazines. I'm fully behind Steve... I'm sure Esmare deserved it and I'm sure that somewhere in her life, someone very close to her cheated on her as well... or is she the perfect person?! Not!!! Steve we still think you rock and I'm sure most people critising your music, tap their feet when they listen to your music!

anna 12/19/2008 9:47:23 AM
I think the man is in total denial about himself. He is the only person that can be blamed for his blatant infidelities. Huisgenoot may be publishing some things that he doesn't like, but they are still publishing the truth. Own up to your own failures, man!

Amazed 12/19/2008 9:48:15 AM
Listen JP, no matter what your problems are, you dont hit or attack woman - perhaps you like to slap your wife around but truth is real men dont attack woman full stop.

MS 12/19/2008 9:50:28 AM
So he threw tea in her face, that was dumb, he should have slashed her car's tyres without anyone knowing, that is the better way of doing it.

Nkosi 12/19/2008 9:53:42 AM
There is NOTHING on earth that could justify throwing tea in a woman's face, especially in public. To suggest there is just calls your breeding into question.

Ryan 12/19/2008 9:54:56 AM
Hit or attack a woman? Is that what you call pouring tea over her head? You have got to be kidding me... And yes, he poured it over her, but trust the media to say something like he threw it in her face... Sigh...

Robin Stobbs 12/19/2008 9:55:47 AM
Well done Colleen - you hit all nails squarely. When one elects to become a public image you also elect to become public property which means you behave like an intelligent human! RS

John 12/19/2008 10:03:23 AM
You said so yourself... It is none of your business. If he is no "roylty" y then is he in Heat,You or Huisgenoot if it is "none of our business" Who is Esmare Weideman to go poke her nose in places it does not belong or is none of her business? She can be glad she didnt get a fat klap coz heaven knows she deserves it! Stop being so femenist about the whole fact and go get laid coz i think you need it, even tho you wont get it... Also do you have a problem ppl ask for his autograph? Are you jelou?

Sekai 12/19/2008 10:13:02 AM
Well said Colleen but I think you must include that editor as well for the type of low life magazine she represents. This is exactly the sort of behaviour I'd expect from both of them, real life "My Name is Earl" people. Horrors!

natalie O 12/19/2008 10:14:35 AM
Good grief...is anyone actually surprised by this?..come on people, at least now we have a true trailor park- to trailor park success story!

Odette 12/19/2008 10:16:22 AM
Colleen ... it is people like you who write nasty and unnecessary articles like this one which cause people like Steve loose it. Back off girl and take a good look at your own clearly pathetic life

Steve Gulpenator 12/19/2008 10:19:24 AM
Just ask Jan-Jan Joubert what happened when he said something about my shoes!!!

Nick 12/19/2008 10:20:35 AM
Wrong Cristine, i change the radio station not tap my feet to is crappy music. We all have our taste for music, mine is not SH. Neil Diamond yes. Ryan your a "wet womans blouse" you want toss Tea over a woman. To both of you, buy his crap this Xmas, you will be one of the hundred or so.

chops 12/19/2008 10:21:29 AM
love children, unfaithfulness and divorce is acceptable, but throwing tea on someone is not. Think about it. You accept him during all that he's done, but no longer because he threw tea on someone?? That is warped morality right there. And then you preach about morality in your column as if you understand it. Also, Steve didn't attack her, he just threw some tea on her. Maybe he had good reason. That is hardly an attack now is it? Like media hype much? In case you think so, I'm not a Steve fan.

BB 12/19/2008 10:23:13 AM
Clearly he's been taking his lead from other celebs who think they can throw things like cellphones at people. The core of it, was that if he had any moral ethics he wouldn't have done those things that lead his name to be slandered over whichever magazine. If he really was innocent he'd have sued for defamation of character...but clearly where there's smoke there's fire. And if he wants the title of celeb he has to pay the price of having his life open for all to view...

Speedy 12/19/2008 10:23:14 AM
To JP Strauss: Steve was caught out once before, and patched things up with his wife, the a few months later he does the same thing! If your intention is to patch things up, don't shoot yourself in the foot. His only concern in my mind is that this divorce is going to cost him dearly, financially. I agree with Colleen, his fans will rather choose to see him as the victim in all this. His problem is he cannot keep his d@@k in his pants!

Jolly Jumper 12/19/2008 10:26:38 AM
It was a cup of tea in a magazine editor's face! When did it suddenly become woman abuse? What if that editor was a man? I'm not saying what he did was right, but don't put a "woman abuse" tag on an incident like this. It was one person's reaction (be it wrong) to another's attack on his personal life. This has nothing to do with men abusing women and vice-versa!

Louis 12/19/2008 10:29:09 AM
I'm sure both of them are enjoying this publicity stunt.

Neville 12/19/2008 10:29:13 AM
Bla bla Steve. All this is free publicity for the guy who I think doesnt deserve any of his fame. If you all that like him so much just think that being a male whore is all he is good at and cheating on your wife is a major sin in all religeons. So go on and support a person that is in my words and idiot of note and should not be allowed to entertain anybody. Sis Steve sing another childrens song and think what you have done to your own family and kids - hurt

Adrian 12/19/2008 10:29:23 AM
This article is spot on. How low can one go to attack a woman - and that in public? It is unforgivable. Christine, are you by any chance Steve's latest sex toy? Is that why you can't see any out-of-control behavior with Steve's (or JP Strauss's for that matter) antics?

Ashley 12/19/2008 10:33:47 AM
I think the article is well written - Steve does consider his moderate success in SA - makes him an important person. All he does really is imitate Neil Diamond and Kris Kristofferson - no original talent. Remember a while ago, he decided that he was a poet! Please what a poser. I think Natasha (his soon to be ex wife) is well rid of him - and if he has the prospect of a lonely Christmas - there will be some stupid female out their ready to take pity on him and belief his sob story.

piet 12/19/2008 10:36:16 AM
I wonder if Stevie would have thrown that tea into the face of the editor if she was actually a big, strappping lad. Steve is nothing but a coward that has difficulty keeping his pants up.

Lynni 12/19/2008 10:41:55 AM
I would to like to know if Steve Hofmeyr has permission from Neil Daimond, Chris Christofferson and all the other overseas musicians to use their music. I mean he is making thousands out of them. The copycat. Let's find out.

Robert 12/19/2008 10:42:13 AM
I always thought that his face was his fortune. His lifestyle and actions confirms my view.

lyn 12/19/2008 10:45:25 AM
I agree with all of the above but find it ridiculous that the writer can turn a "blind eye" to the adulterous affair steve had "because people do it everyday" or not show much interest in the fact that he didnt support his love children because "the world is not perfect" but then is motivated to write a lengthly article because he threw a cup of tea on someones face - and not just anyone - the editor of tabloid tripe that writes nonsense about him on a regular basis. Get a grip

Schmied 12/19/2008 10:49:45 AM
Steve's music may be utter garbage, as is his behaviour, but editors of magazines such as Huisgenoot and You certainly deserve to have hot liquids disposed of in their faces. Unfortunately for people such as Colleen, both people involved were white so the race card can't be played. Let's do the gender one then and call it woman abuse! Throwing tea in the face of someone who encourages the degradation of society by working on such abhorrent publications should be condoned, not condemned!

Jacques 12/19/2008 10:50:04 AM
You should be careful Mam, a cup a tea might be on its way to you!

Dave 12/19/2008 10:53:29 AM
Shame both parties behaving like trailer trash. The Hoff and You/Huisegenoot are all of the same calibre.Small town mentality singer and magazines. Get a frikken life guys,Hoff go back to the hole you crawled out of and You/Huisgenoot get back to reporting on the trash that you normally report on and let all us "big" people get on with our lives.

heather 12/19/2008 10:54:41 AM
Love your article. I think that this country has supported his bad behaviour for far too long. It's about time he is exposed for the A@#H*$# that he is. His lovely wife must be so embarresed, but she is well rid of him and can now find happiness. She will never look back.

Letitia 12/19/2008 10:56:17 AM
I dont know about the tea cup incident, but Steve has truly shown his true colours these last few months and I hope his fans sees him for who he really is.

robbie 12/19/2008 10:57:27 AM
His lifestyle and actions says it all. The fact that he appeals to a certain kind of person says a lot about what is going on in people's heads

Lilly 12/19/2008 11:03:40 AM
I'm no Steve Hofmeyr fan, but I have absolutely no respect for Ms Weideman at all - and maybe she even deserved her cuppa. Anyone remember the enormous amount of trouble she caused with the Leigh Matthews case? With her placing an article she contravened sub judice regulations and almost caused the whole case to go up in flames. Maybe she should learn what real journalism is about

Mike 12/19/2008 11:04:07 AM
You are telling us that what Steve did is not OK, but to publish lies, gossip and twisting the truth is OK. The one thing worse that Steve Hofmeyer is Huisgenoot. It is ?n very low class magazine. If you tell me ?but it sells well? I will say ?so does Steve?s records?. Journalists are not truthful people. If ever one knows a bit about the subject or an event and you read about it in Huisgenoot, you will realize how skew their articles are. Gossip journalism is such a honourable job.

AL 12/19/2008 11:08:15 AM
He brought on the break up of his marriage himself and if he cannot stand the heat, stay away from the fire. He is a low life and always has been. Thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread!! The wheels have turned my friend.

Nick 12/19/2008 11:08:28 AM
Buy a Neil Diamond CD this Xmas and listed to the real McCoy, you won't be disapointed. PS and dont get SHIRTea with anyone this festive season.

ME 12/19/2008 11:10:58 AM
He has such a high opinion of himself and I refuse to watch his program or listen to his music. I now ignore him totally. He has enjoyed positive publicity all the years, but now he has cocked up and can't stand any negative reports. Wat an absolute screwed up mind must he have!!!

ice 12/19/2008 11:12:08 AM
Have to agree with chops there Colleen. Everything is acceptable but throwing tea,you must be joking.I don't like Steve, but I have a greater dislike for journalists. You will sell your soul and what else? to get a story. Maybe it's a love affair gone bad (you or the other journo?). Sometime everyone get what they deserve . . .

Upset 12/19/2008 11:17:53 AM
aaww come on people, it was cold tea. No one mentions what she said to him to provoke him. If he slapped her in the face, I would also be disappointed in the man, but really. Now suddenly its an insult to "women everywhere". Shame poor women, get over yourselves. She should just go and cry in a corner, and pity herself without looking for publicity with making a scene like this.

Bee 12/19/2008 11:22:15 AM
On his blog, he basically says it was the call from his crying son wanting to see him now!, that brought home the reality that he has no Christmas Tree or festiveness, and... compared to Weideman's "vrolikheid" at the breakfast table, ... blah blah blah... not for 1 minute do I want to even THINK of judging his actions but clearly he never imagined the consequences of all his actions, would eat away at him like it is. The man has regrets and guilt - lots of it - and it manifests in his actions.

we care!!! 12/19/2008 11:22:22 AM
Ahhh... yes we must try and find out if the "twit" was justified! Sure he was trying to patch up his marriage and magazines fabricate all manner of lies to bring the man down, such is journalism - (journalists are always trying to break marriages up) learn that in Journo 101. Naturally all this excuses the man from behaving the way he does, please, do you honestly think that excuses this type of behavior...even if your theory is remotely plausible

Jan 12/19/2008 11:23:39 AM
I don't particularly like Steve, but what the media does is inexcusable. Diana for example was killed by this very same "It's news, it's sensation" mentality. Huisgenoot can harp on about everything that goes on in these celebs lives, invade their privacy as they see fit. Then when these people snaps everyone wants to shout "Abuse"! Very interesting indeed.

Fran 12/19/2008 11:27:10 AM
Perfectly summed up. You can never buy breeding and your lack thereof will always rear it's ugly head.

Zinnia 12/19/2008 11:28:02 AM
I don't think this has been a one-sided media attack on Steve - he was featured in a locla magazine 2 months ago, sharing his side of the story. Unfortunately for him he only ended up sounding like a whiny kid whose toys had been taken away. His wife may well be better off without him.

Mike3 12/19/2008 11:43:06 AM
Hi Colleen, so what you are saying is the people in Rustenburg are low class people. I really like some of your key-words on my genius:" honest, pleasant, broad minded, learner, speaker, blogger, shares, feels, thinks, cares, music lover, understanding, objective, helpful". You should add SNOB.

Robbie klaay 12/19/2008 11:47:01 AM
You should have throun her with a shoe !!

The Prophet 12/19/2008 11:51:24 AM
I'm not a fan of Steve, I'm not for violence against woman. I do however think that the Huisgenoot editor (note I'm addressing the position, not the person) desrves this and it's amazing that it has taken so long for someone to do it. Huisgenoot is really only a glossy tabloid. What they're doing is not investigative journalism, it's harrassment. I've personally seen how they will invade your privacy even during a funeral - just to get their "lekker skinnerstorie"

Gail 12/19/2008 11:54:21 AM
Well Steve proved how dof he is, tee-ing off the editor of the largest group of magazines in SA - brilliant and bound to win you some more good press! PS - John you should take your meds

Hannes 12/19/2008 12:14:47 PM
It's about time somebody stopped Esmare. No offence, but since she took control of Huisgenoot etc. the quality has gone away. What did she expect? Did she expect Steve to greet her with open arms? I'd have done the same if I were taunted and harrassed by the media the whole time!

Hannes 12/19/2008 12:20:53 PM

Chris 12/19/2008 12:22:13 PM
The time is now for all South African music lovers to get Steve out of their minds and boicot him totally as he has again proved that woman are there only to be misused ! Kiefling se "gat" !

BeeBop 12/19/2008 12:22:17 PM
yes colleen you had to stereotype to bring your point across. Can't you just face the topic at hand without stereotyping, which is unfortunately so typical of South African comments in general. Stick with the point and maybe someone will take you serious.

Steve Fan 12/19/2008 12:26:21 PM
Esmare publishes rubbish. This has nothing to do with abuse. Grow up people. I only wish she got a HOT cup of tea in her face!! Teach her for writing garbage....

steve fan 12/19/2008 12:32:22 PM
steve is the best.

Acineth 12/19/2008 12:34:53 PM
Unless any journalist took his clothes off and pushed him onto those other women - he's the only one responsible. Remember, this all came out when his mistress of several years sued him for breach of promise. Not only that, he found the time to cheat on her too. He didn't mind being in You when nobody was reporting on his bad behaviour.

Rachelle 12/19/2008 12:50:09 PM
I agree with the writer - Steve shows total lack of breeding and so do the rest of you that disagree with the article. Steve creates drama where ever he goes just to keep himself in the limelight. The fact that he does not have his kids or a Xmas tree (shame) is his own doing - why does'nt he get is fitness instructor and the other simple-minded women from that small town to give him some love and attention AGAIN.!! So boring. He is a total disgrace to society and certainly not a role model!

cj 12/19/2008 1:02:11 PM
My grandmother always said "You can have all the money in the world my girl, but if you haven't got breeding..." Say no more!

Kobus 12/19/2008 1:03:11 PM
Could not agree with you more!

erin 12/19/2008 1:05:00 PM
Thanks for the article Colleen, well written. I am personally not a fan of Steve and I think that it is the ultimate insult to throw tea in someones face.

jan van til 12/19/2008 1:06:50 PM
Colleen, you have a weird problem with Rustenburg hey? So dahling, where are you from? Just because you hate his music, dont blame it on Rustenburg. Jeezzz... I am not even from there, but I take offence. I am from Lyndhurst in Jozi, doll. Hou op gatkruip by Esmare.

Kathy 12/19/2008 1:09:26 PM
Yes, please John, take your meds! Abuse is abuse! There are laws against "klapping" people and chucking tea in their faces. It's called Assault and Intimidation. People that think like you and that twit Steve deserve to have their arses hawled into the back of a police van and locked up! I hope she takes Steve to the cleaners, he deserves it!

George 12/19/2008 1:17:15 PM
I don't condone what Steve has done but over the years I've noticed a trend in Huisgenoot/You to publish articles about men in particular mostly in a derogative manner. It says a lot for a magazine that is suppose to promote family morals!! No wonder Steve did what he did!! I don't buy this magazine anymore because it has become trash!!

LMGA 12/19/2008 1:21:55 PM
Steve's antics: Everyone knew from day one who and what type of person he was,so why the surprise of him cheating on his wife. Did she really think she will be able to change him. Tea: I agree, since when is pouring tea over someone woman abuse, what is next, staring at a womans breasts! Journo's:always push the envelope wanting reaction and when they get it(whatever it may be) they act surprised! Everyone should just have a drink or some pot to relax.

Min gespin 12/19/2008 1:26:36 PM
Steve and Esmare is min gespin about what people say about them. Their lives continues as normal and we the public is up in arms about their antics. Maybe Esmare asked Steve for some tea and instead of giving her a sip he gave her the whole cup of tea over her head by accident.

Very well timed to make your point Steve - (violence against women and kids) Manners maketh man !

Dear Mr Hofmeyer The media was not responsible for the break-up of your marriage. Being unfaithful to your wife caused her to kick you out. Not the media! I agree that certain journalists do take their reporting a bit too far, Huisgenoot's clan being part of them, but blaming them for your troubles... Nee meneer, dit werk nie so nie. Take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming everyone else. Ps: Throwing tea at anyone is utterly childish. Word groot!

Steve is playing the moneymaking game very well. As soon as he is not in the news he creates news. As simple as that. I cannot stand the man. He has the mentality : Me Myself and I.

I do not care who agree or not but Huisgenoot Editor deserved it! Leave Steve alone Esmare you never get the message. People do not know what happens behind the scenes and how you haunt Steve down.I still support Steve I am young and from Sandton not Rustenburg!

Susan says... Maybe it is a load of cr*p, but then again I don't think columnists are supposed to write factual articles. In the future, click on the "news" tab at the top of the website. You will find that the "opinion" tab (which is where you are now) have less of an informative function, and rather serves as entertainment. In other words, it's meant to be funny. Although if you don't realise that it probably means that you don't find it that funny. Perhaps in the future you should stop reading his articles and save yourself some dissapointment.
