Cape Town - And the sexiest woman in South Africa is... Lee-Ann Liebenberg!
This top model and former Miss South Africa finalist was crowned on Friday evening following a survey by FHM to determine the world's hundred sexiest women.
Last year's winner, Minki van der Westhuizen, moved down to third place with Angelina Jolie as runner-up.
With 38 representatives as opposed to last year's 33, South Africa has the most representatives ever among the top 100.
'I didn't expect it at all'
"I didn't expect this at all," an overwhelmed Lee-Ann said. "There are so many beautiful girls in South Africa, the winner always comes as a surprise, especially since it can be anyone. I'm very excited, but the reality hasn't quite dawned on me yet."
Lee-Ann, 22, said she wouldn't have minded at all if the singer Danny K was by her side when her name had been announced on Friday evening. This glamour pair's relationship recently hit hard times.
"With our hectic programmes, things simply didn't want to work out. A couple of weeks ago, he was in America after which I left for India.
Thereafter, he went to London while I am, in turn, busy with FHM's photo session," she said.
"I know it would probably sound like a cliché but we are still good friends and often exchange SMSs. That's why it would have been nice to have him here for support."
Relationship status?
Does this mean she'll say 'no' to a next relationship? "I'm open to any suggestions. Why? Do you want to publish my number so all nubile men can call?" she joked.
"I don't have a list of all the qualities I am looking for in the ideal man. But it is important that two people in a relationship can share a joke, relax together and be themselves."
"I am not looking for a lover, because I know when you are in love, it is meant to be that way."
About the competition, Lee-Ann said she hoped it would open new doors for her. Already, she will be leaving this coming weekend for a photo session with FHM in Durban.
She has also returned with her first international model contract. "I went to Pakistan where I appeared in a TV advertisement for hair products. The people there are incredible, and I enjoyed the visit to India tremendously."
Lee-Ann, a Gautenger through and through and a member of Heads Models, has been modelling for five years already.
"The industry is tough, but I am enjoying it. It is fantastic to travel and see so many places, but it is just as nice to come home."
"Home" is that of her parents, Allan and Adrienne, in Constantia Kloof, Roodepoort. She also has a younger brother, Ryan, 16.
If she is not in front of the cameras, she is visiting with friends, or catching up on the latest movies.
And does she believe in the statement that blondes have more fun?
She laughs. "I love seeing so many brunette's names on the top-ten list. The closest I can get to being a blonde is if I wear a wig!"
