London - Former X-Files actress Gillian Anderson was taken to hospital after falling down the stairs of her London home, the star's official website said on Tuesday.
Anderson, 34, was rushed by ambulance to the private Cromwell Hospital in central London following the accident on Monday at her home in nearby Notting Hill.
Reports in the Daily Mirror tabloid that the actress may have suffered neck and back injuries were denied on her official website (www.gilliananderson.ws).
Anderson has no fractures or sprains and "was released after a checkup at the hospital and is back home, safe and sound", the website said.
The Daily Mirror printed a photograph of the actress strapped to a stretcher as she arrived at the hospital.
Anderson, who starred as Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent Dana Scully in the "X-Files" between 1993 and 2000, lives with fiancé Julian Ozanne, a journalist and documentary filmmaker, and her eight-year-old daughter Piper.
The American actress came to Britain last year to star in the West End play "What the Night is For", which ended its run in February.
