Cannes - Hollywood star Brad Pitt was absent on Tuesday from the Cannes presentation of his latest movie, Babel, but sent an e-mail to the festival explaining it was because he was awaiting the birth of his and Angelina Jolie's baby.
"With the imminent arrival of the new addition to our family, I am unable to join Alejandro, Cate, Gael and the rest of the cast and crew in introducing the film," he wrote.
"I am tremendously proud of Babel and want to congratulate everyone involved for this great achievement. Signed Brad Pitt."
Pitt, 42, and Jolie, 30, are in Namibia, where the birth of their first biological child together is expected any day now.
The A-list couple already have an adopted four-year-old son, Maddox, and an adopted 16-month-old daughter, Zahara.
They have reportedly pre-sold the first photograph of their newborn baby for more than three million dollars to a US magazine, with the money going to a Unicef charity. Jolie is a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
