Spielberg gets French award

Paris - Steven Spielberg is now an officer in the French Legion of Honour.
France's President Nicolas Sarkozy has named the American movie director an officer - one of the country's highest awards.
Sarkozy's office says Spielberg's work on documenting the Holocaust and his efforts to help the war-wracked Darfur region of Sudan prompted the honour.
Spielberg met with Sarkozy on Wednesday in the French presidential palace. The director was at the Cannes Film Festival last weekend for the world premiere of his new film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
