Mumbai - US pop star Beyonce Knowles is ready to shake a leg in Bollywood films or even do an "item number", the current sensual song and dance rage in the Hindi formulaic film industry, a report said on Thursday.
Beyonce said she was a fan of Bollywood movies and would explore doing an Indian film.
"Why not? Indian films are so colourful," the pop star said in an interview with the Times of India.
"It can be fun to do a film like that at least once. Given a chance, I would love to do an Indian film," she said.
The multiple Grammy winner for her 2003 solo debut, Dangerously in Love said she had seen some Indian hits such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum (Sometimes Joy Sometimes Sorrow) starring legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and superstar Shahrukh Khan, Oscar-nominated film Lagaan (Tax) and Devdas (Pining Lover).
"I loved Devdas ... the actress (Aishwarya Rai) was amazing. I cried towards the end of the film," Beyonce said.
Devdas is a story of an alcoholic lover who pines for his childhood love and eventually dies.
Many Bollywood producers are wooing foreigners and celebrity singers to perform the sensual "item numbers" in Hindi films.
Established pop stars who have already performed in Bollywood films include Tata Young in recent hit Dhoom, and Samantha Fox.
