Rings fever runs high

Cape Town - It's Tolkien season and fans of The Lords of the Rings are in for a bumper season.
Leading up to the December 17 release of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, the final film in Peter Jackson's epic trilogy, Nu Metro Film Distribution will release a limited number of 35mm prints of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers in theatres around South Africa.
There's also the release of the extended version of Lord of The Rings: Two Towers on DVD.
And, to prepare fans for the final part of the trilogy, the website of The Writing Studio offers in depth behind the scenes information, and will have a special free discussion group on the saga at City Varsity Film and Television School Mini Cinema on December 2 at 20:15.

Nu Metro Theatres will re-release the first two instalments at the following Nedbank Cinema Privé sites: Nu Metro Canal Walk, Nu Metro Menlyn Park, Nu Metro Pavilion, Nu Metro Montecasino and Nu Metro Village Walk from December 5 to December 16 culminating in the first screening of The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King at midnight on December 17 at Nu Metro Canal Walk, Nu Metro Menlyn Park, Nu Metro Pavilion and Nu Metro Montecasino.
Ster-Kinekor Theatres will be running marathon screenings of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers at Ster-Kinekor Gateway and Ster-Kinekor Tygervalley Mall on December 16, also culminating in the first screening of the third instalment at midnight on December 17.
But there's more great news for Tolkien fans. The CD Wherehouse has just released the special extended version "gift set" of The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers - a must for any avid collector.
