Oslo - A 24-year-old Norwegian woman was on Wednesday sentenced to eight months in prison for raping a male acquaintance in 2004.
An appeals court in the west coast city of Bergen upheld a lower court's earlier conviction, but handed down a slightly reduced sentence after ruling that the woman was guilty of raping a 32-year-old man in January 2004.
The victim alleged that while he was asleep, the woman performed oral sex on him without his consent. He testified that he was very angry when he woke up.
He also told the court that he has suffered from psychological problems after the event.
The appeals court said the woman's explanation that the act was consensual was not credible.
It was the first time a woman was convicted of rape without any accomplices in Norway, the Norwegian news agency NTB said. - Sapa-dpa
