Rabbit back in its hole

London - Britain's leading sex shop chain, Ann Summers, is recalling 150 000 of its best-selling, 17.8-centimeter Rampant Rabbit vibrators "in the interest of public safety."
"Under certain circumstances a component may fail which may cause discomfort to the consumer," said the self-described "passion fashion" outlet on its Internet site.
"If you have purchased this product between the stated dates, please stop using this product immediately," it said.
More precisely, a spokesperson at Ann Summers' head office at Whyteleafe, south of London, said "rubber could tear" from the pink shaft of the vibrator, which is filled with "sensual beads" and runs on four AA batteries.
"This recall is just a precautionary measure. The chances of a faulty vibrator out there are miniscule," she said, adding that there was no danger of electrocution.
Ann Summers has exclusive rights to the foreign-made Rampant Rabbit in Britain, but the spokesperson was unsure if it was sold from other retailers in other parts of the world.
In the meantime, a "quality assured" version of the Rampant Rabbit is available, she said. It costs £26.99 (R445). - Sapa-AFP
