Amsterdam - A McDonald's restaurant in the Dutch town of Almere has shown a group of elderly patrons the door, saying they make too much noise, the Volkskrant reported on Tuesday.
Jan van Keeken, 75, told the daily he was sitting in the restaurant on the Stadhuisplein square in the town as usual with 10 to 15 friends of a similar age.
"According to the manager we were too noisy. Some of us were perhaps talking a bit loudly, because some of the others are a bit deaf," Van Keeken said.
The pensioner said the manager had called the police to enforce his ruling after other patrons of the fast-food restaurant had complained.
The paper printed a colour photograph on its front page showing the manager explaining his decision to a group of elderly people. - Sapa-dpa
