Los Angeles - James Blunt is terrified of dying.
The British singer, who is a former army officer, claims he is so scared of dying it keeps him awake at night, and his irrational fear manifests itself in his music.
Blunt said: "The themes are not deeply hidden - the solitude of life and the sense of isolation that is part of the human condition. I have a strong sense of passing time and how short life is. It's kind of frightening in a way. I often lie awake at night staring at the ceiling."
The You're Beautiful singer also insists he doesn't write music for his fans, only for himself.
He said: "I do this for myself. If there was no audience, I'd still be a musician, I'd still be writing songs, because that's what I do."
Meanwhile, Blunt has revealed he knows how to say "Do you have a condom?" and "tickle my balls" in Spanish.
The 33-year-old musician owns a luxury villa on the party island of Ibiza, but is yet to completely master the language.
Womaniser
He said: "I can only say two things in Spanish, 'tienes un condon' and 'cosquillee mis pelotas'. The first means, 'Do you have a condom?' and the second means, 'Tickle my balls'."
The two phrases could prove useful for Blunt, who is fast earning a reputation as a womaniser.
He has been romantically linked to a string of famous beauties, including Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Paris Hilton, who described him as "totally hot". - Bang Showbiz.com
