Cape Town - SA' s Got Talent judge Shado Twala says her heart broke when her favourites didn't go through on the reality show.
"You know, my heart broke because my favourites weren't always South Africa's favourites, but that's how the show's designed," she told News24.
"I'm so proud of South Africa and I'm very emotional," Twala said as she prepared for the semi-final in Johannesburg.
The battle for the title of SA's most talented builds to its conclusion on Thursday and viewers are being encouraged to vote for their favourites.
She said that the country "undoubtedly" has talent, even though her favourites didn't always make it through to the following rounds.
George Avakian from Johannesburg and Louwtjie Rothman from Cape Town were the first two contestants to go through to the finale.
Twala said she's feeling nervous, but has enjoyed the experience. However, she didn't say whether she got along with fellow judge Randall Abrahams, notorious for his brutal honesty.
"There were some strange acts: A woman brought in a snake and I was terrified, thinking that everyone fears snakes like I do," she said. "Bringing a dog or cat I can understand, but a snake - that was my scariest moment on the show."
The public can vote by sending an SMS to 34768, and SMSes cost R2. The finale will be broadcast on SABC 2 at 19:30 on Thursday.
