US film star jams in Joeys

Johannesburg - Most people went to the Blues Room in Sandton on Thursday evening to see (and hear) rock legend Arno Carstens' New Porn in action.
But, they were treated to an unexpected bonus when they also saw (and heard) another legend, Hollywood actor Tim Robbins, who decided to jam with the band.
Robbins, known for his roles in The Shawshank Redemption and Mystic River, took an unexpected bow on the Blues Room stage.
When he parked his lanky body and Takamine guitar next to Albert Frost and his Fender, the audience was overwhelmed.
Robbins said he had met Carstens in South Africa when they were shooting the film, Hot Stuff at Secunda in Mpumalanga.
Played six songs
"Arno helped me with a song I had to sing in the film - Paradise Road.
The song was performed originally by Bruce Springsteen. And, Robbins sounds a lot like Springsteen when he starts singing.
Robbins performed six songs with Frost, one with Brendan Jury taking up the violin.
The audience reaction almost took off the roof when Robbins played some of his own compositions and even a Tom Waits song.
According to imdb.com, Hot Stuff is about with terrorism and apartheid in South Africa.
Won Oscar in 2004
It is based on the true story of Patrick Chamusso (played by Derek Luke of Antwone Fisher and Pieces of April), a factory worker who spent 24 years in jail on Robben Island because of his involvement in the struggle against apartheid.
Robbins plays the role of Nic Vos, a policeman who becomes involved with Chamusso.
Actress Bonnie Mbuli is cast in the role of Chamusso?s wife.
Robbins received an Oscar in 2004 as best actor in a supporting role for Mystic River.
He is married to actress Susan Sarandon (since 1988) and the couple have two children.
