Pretoria - Anton Goosen, the Liedjieboer, came face to face with his attacker in court for the first time since he was assaulted.
José Finiche, a 39-year-old Mozambican who lived in Diepsloot will be sentenced in the magistrate's court at Atteridegeville, Pretoria at the end of this month, on a charge of housebreaking.
Goosen was attacked on his farm at Hennop's River, Centurion and left naked next to a farm road earlier this year. Finiche was still in custody.
"It was weird to see him again," Goosen said.
"He couldn't look me in the eye."
"I recognised him, but I don't know if I would necessarily have spotted him in an identity parade."
Goosen said he bore no bitterness against his attackers, three of whom were still at large.
The court case was actually a form of closure.
"I'm angrier about what happened to Lucky Dube.
"I feel that President Mbeki and the Springbok team should have worn black armbands at the World Cup final on Saturday, in memory of all the victims of crime in this country," he said.
