'Jackson's comeback successful'

by Chegoane Mabelane
2009-07-09 10:26

In a democratic society it has never been the duty of the accused to prove his innocence but that of the prosecutor to prove the accused guilty. Michael Jackson was never found guilty of any charges laid against him and he remains innocent even today.

He will be remembered as the King of Pop, as a singer and a dancer who changed the landscape of music industry from his young age.

In March this year Michel stated he will be performing for the last time in his 10 concert comeback which he labelled "The final curtain call".

"I will see you in July" were his last world, to some extent he was right as the whole world gathered this month to celebrate his life and successes.

The chorus from one of his songs, we are the world, says: "We are the world/We are the children/We are the ones who make a brighter day/So let's start giving/There's a choice we're making/We're saving our own lives/It's true we'll make a better day/Just you and me"

It is clear from the song and his other songs that Michael enjoyed being around children. It is a pity that his love for children has haunted him in his life. From the same song he urges that it is time to start giving hence he made donations to all kind of organisations around the world. Even organisation like Red Cross in Africa has benefited from his donations. He has saved lives; it is a pity those donations will be no more.

Though you are no more Michael, your comeback in the month of July has been successfully accomplished. The songs your fans like are dominating music charts just around the world as wished. Your music and moves will dominate generation to generations.

He was just a sick obscure freak that could sing, nothing more!

SimonP 7/9/2009 10:37:57 AM
He wasnt found guilty true, but why did he settle out of court with millions of dollars? Hes as innocent as JZ.

geanann 7/9/2009 10:45:52 AM
I'm quite frankly tired of reading about freaky Michael. But as a last blast and to admire his legacy go to:http://blogs.24.com/ViewComments.aspx?mid=ace0c95c-9b28-4e4b-8598-e4998b5180d7&blogid=9f5d3758-e66f-4448-8ddb-4fc5062c2521

I AM SO SAD AT HIS PASSING AND I CANNOT EXPLAIN WHY.PERSONALLY I THINK THIS LABEL 'KING OF POP' DOES NOT DO HIM JUSTICE. HE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. IN FACT, HE IS BIGGER THAN JUST POP. IE DANCING, CHOREOGRAPHY,HUMANITARIAN ISSUES ETC ETC.HAVE WE HEARD THE REAL STORY OF MJ, I THINK NOT. MEDIA HAS GIVEN US WHAT THEY WANTED US TO BELIEVE AND YET AGAIN I AM SURE HE WAS MORE THAN THEIR HIEDOUS AGENDA OF SELLING NEWSPAPERS AND MAKING HUGE PROFITS.THE GODDAM PUBLIC AND MEDIA CONTRIBUTED TO HIS WEAKNESSES. CAN YOU IMAGINE NOT BEING ABLE TO WALK ACROSS THE STREET OR GOING TO THE SHOP TO BUY SOMETHING?HOW SAD AND LONELY HE MUST HAVE BEEN! YET, WE STILL DEMAND OUR POUND OF FLESH AND FOR MANY YEARS WE WILL CONTINUE TO BUY NEWS THAT WRITE ALL THESE LIES ABOUT HIM. HIS MUSIC IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND I BELIEVE THAT HIS CHARACTER MUST HAVE BEEN UNIQUE. I CANNOT EXPLAIN ALL THIS EMOTION ABOUT HIM AND MAYBE IT MUST BE GUILT COS I TOO JUDGED HIM HARSHLY, RIDICULED AND DISMISSED HIM. I HOPE THAT ALL OF US COULD JUST FOR A MINUTE,SHOW SOME HUMANITY AND HONESTY AND ACCEPT THAT SOMETIMES SOMEONE COMES ALONG AND SOMETIMES WE MIGHT PRETEND WE KNOW EVERYTHING AND SOMETIMES WE MUST ADMIT THAT WE KNOW NOTHING AT ALL.LORD HELP US!

Sean 7/9/2009 10:47:43 AM
Enough already.

Poloyatonki 7/9/2009 10:48:02 AM
Michael Jackson, his story is very similar JZ never found guilty and he remains innocent even today. My favorite MJ song is “The Earth Song” I love that song..

gerry 7/9/2009 10:48:23 AM
I will rememeber him as a talented Mutant who got the world singing and dancing .

IandI 7/9/2009 10:51:50 AM
Michael was sad, lonely confused adult man who could never outgrow his childhood. He was talented allright and I have never seen a better singer/ dancer since James Brown.May he rest in peace now. Like Elvis he will make more money now that he is dead, great career move!

Halfwise 7/9/2009 10:55:39 AM
My question is why did he change his face from black to white????????? Not happy to be Black....

vankuijeren14 7/9/2009 11:07:34 AM
the man lived the life of a scooby-doo villian...running around and old fair ground wearing a face that wasnt really his...

T 7/9/2009 11:09:42 AM
It is weird, when he is alive he is a child molester, when he dies he's a legend. We all live with double standards.

em 7/9/2009 11:09:48 AM
Please just get him buried and done with. Before his death nobody had any thing good to say about him, but now everyone is eager to declare him as some god. Let us all remember to rather give flowers whilst people are alive and not when they are dead and gone.

KK 7/9/2009 11:12:29 AM
Halfwise, MJ never changed his colour to "white", instead he changed colour to PINK.

Anon @ Halfwise 7/9/2009 11:13:20 AM
Not just his face, but his body, appearance, 2 wives and kids.

Mouse 7/9/2009 11:20:31 AM
Musically and as a dancer/entertainer Michael Jackson was the King. His personal life I cannot comment on as I wasn;'t present. One observation though, if it was my son and he in fact did molest him, no amount of money or popularity of the abuser would stop me from bringing him to book. So lets look at the accuser too. Remember a story has too sides and then.... the truth.

JZ 7/9/2009 11:25:54 AM
He said he paid millions because he had enough and couldn't take it anymore!

Lucky Ralawe 7/9/2009 11:34:27 AM
Tell us something that we don't know already. This article is not going to redeem you from the puke you wrote yesterday btw

Shimane Mbongwa 7/9/2009 11:40:10 AM
Poloyatonki you my brother give some of us a bad name with your poor reasoning. MJ settled one of the cases brought against him out of court. Settling out of court means that the party that proposes to settle gives in to the demands of the party that was suing them. It is no different from paying an admission of guilt fine. The only reason why the party that offers to settle out court takes this initiative is to avoid further damaging evidence from being led in court against them, and not incurring expensive costs of the lawyers on both sides. An out of court settlement is often also made a court order in order to ensure that if one of the parties does not abide thereby, they will be in contempt of court and can be sent to jail. Learnt something knew today, mnh?

GeePMB 7/9/2009 11:41:03 AM
Enough already... I am sick of turning on my TV and opening my newspapers and Internet and hearing about Michael Jackson! Every Radio station and every TV music station is playing him rabbiting on about him AD NAUSEUM. Not everybody wants to keep hearing his music all day everyday. He's dead, RIP Goodbye, end of...

1eye 7/9/2009 11:47:39 AM
Ja guess his life read like a Thriller, perhaps he should have focused on healing his head rather than the world Good or Bad he left his mark RIP o Gloved one

Anon 7/9/2009 11:52:17 AM

SimonP 7/9/2009 12:10:59 PM
@poloyatonki, yep very similar, both guilty both let off.

Basil 7/9/2009 12:21:16 PM
The greatest man since Nelson Mandela to ever have lived was without a doubt Michael Jackson.I cried non stop for two days. And then at the memorial when his daughter stood up ,well that was me again i broke down and cried like a child.RIP Michael we love you.

michael 7/9/2009 12:24:44 PM
Just want to know if those kids are really his? anyone know??

Rolem 7/9/2009 12:31:05 PM
I was watching his memorial the other day and I couldn't stop crying. MJ was the best, He'll forever be remembered. You guys are just jealous because you enjoy the celebrity status here on this forum and you know that your popularity will only end-up here on News24. I love Michael Jackson.

Lol 7/9/2009 12:32:37 PM
He had a skin disease which explains why he looked white. He didn't settle out of court - his management team decided it was best after seeing how it wrecked him, MJ wanted the case to go to criminal court to prove his innocence - if he was guilty why would he do that? Google Evan Chandler and see what the story was - he was innocent all these years.

bokamoso 7/9/2009 12:34:05 PM
just let the man rest.

DPH 7/9/2009 12:37:32 PM
Jackson collapses in a drug - induced stupor and departs this mortal coil. Jesus Christ is tortured and dies an excruciatingly painful death for the sins all humanity and yet, he does not receive nearly as much adulation as old plastic face. What a sad, misguided world we live in!

Decode 7/9/2009 12:40:13 PM
You people are disgusting no one knew what Michael was like or what he did!! They are just stories but you people sound like you would believe anything that people tell you or say!! Grow up get a life and let this poor man rest in peace only he will have to answer to God!! He does not have to answer to any of you fools out there!! RIP

SM 7/9/2009 12:41:51 PM
We have a replacement for mj. We also have a freak who can sing and dance. Only difference is it is hiv woman and not children.

Patrick Mkhwanazi 7/9/2009 12:51:29 PM
Polo the hogwash that comes out of your mouth reminds me of Kolobe. Are and him related, or did you assume another name? I mean he disappeared, which was goodriddance, but then you came along and took his place

Win 7/9/2009 1:09:57 PM
A comeback? His dead, I don't think his going to make a comeback! But then again there was this one man a long time ago....

Poloyatonki @ Patrick Mkhwanazi 7/9/2009 1:11:35 PM
Why do you guys care? ...Idiot

patriot 7/9/2009 1:19:48 PM
DPH,my feelings,exactly!

Patrick Mkhwanazi to Poloyatonki 7/9/2009 1:23:52 PM
Grrrrr, wrong answer! I care because no two persons can have such exact empty spaces between their ears, funny names, the same idiotic writing style and are both from Cape Town, unless they share the same gene pool or are twins. Now that I have answered your question, it's your turn to answer my question?

Dave 7/9/2009 1:41:29 PM
You all had enough, call him names and so on. Why read the article? why comment? get a life you bunch of idiots and dry your eyes. He accomplished more than any of you ever wish you could, enough said.
bunge of half witts

SM 7/9/2009 1:49:44 PM
@Poloyatonki: We care about all in SA who have been deprived of something. A village from its idiot, someone deprived of a brain, etc. etc. We are just caring people, using our 67 minutes every day.

Foxtrot 7/9/2009 1:54:06 PM
Skin Disease....hee hee hee...what a load of Bullsh*t. The man was weird, but in a way wonderfull. He was just a bit off his rocker, but hey, we ALL enjoyed his music!!

Strawberry Lips 7/9/2009 2:03:16 PM
why are MJ's kids white? shouldn't they at least be coloured... it baffles me...

LG 7/9/2009 2:08:44 PM
Exactly let him rest and just stop enough now!

Urs@Shimane Mbongwa 7/9/2009 2:13:42 PM
The paid off parents of that child had to take the case on in the civil courts because the District Attorney could not find evidence on which to prosecute - this after the child described Jackson as circumcised, when he was not. A more relevant question is surely, why would the parents of a genuinely sexually abused child accept money from the perpetrator to leave it alone? If I was the parent no amount of money would stop me pursuing the case - unless money was my motivation in the first place. Unfortunately for Jackson, many influential people didn't look at it from that angle and saw the payment simply as an admission of guilt, then came the unfortunate Martin Bashir interview - and let's face it, the man had problems - they then believed they had enough to prosecute. A jury of his peers would not convict when they did. Damaged and disturbed human being? Yes. Paedophile? Probably not.

Poloyatonki @ Patrick Mkhwanazi 7/9/2009 2:14:15 PM
what was the question?

Poloyatonki @ SM 7/9/2009 2:16:32 PM
Very Funny,,,why dont you do stand off comedy for 67 minutes every day.

Anon @ Rolem 7/9/2009 2:24:44 PM
Now only if you were much younger he would love you back!

Rat 7/9/2009 2:25:13 PM
Enough already?!? enough has not yet been said!! Why click on the link and read the story if u tired of hearing about it?

Davey 7/9/2009 2:32:22 PM
MJ was a controversial charecter, but to understand his charecter, you must understand his life, imagine being in the public eye from the tender age of 5 years, imagine your every move being judged and accusations made without you even getting a real oppertunity to defend yourself purely because of all the hate, who cares if michael changed his skin colour to white. If Al sharpton can get up on stage and thank michael for everything he did for the black community, he opened doors, broke barriers, opened eyes and in fact.. changed the world! so regardless of what you heard of him, regardless of what they said.. THANK YOU MICHAEL, you will be sorely missed but never forgotten, your music will live on forever. Have some respect for the dead, i wish i could accomplish even a 100th of what michael jackson achieved. RIP michael, youre now in a better place, may your songs live on for eternity as i have no doubt they will!!

@Anon, Halfwise, Foxtrot
It's quite obvious that the comments you posted here indicate one thing; that the computing organ occupying the space in your head is no larger than a golf ball. Vitiligo, a skin condition from which Michael had a problem with since his teens, exist as thousands of South Africans are subjected to it, let alone millions more around the world. Behonest enough to do your own quick search on the net about this or speak to a dermatologist for further information than rely on your narrow and prejudicial view of utter ignorance based on deep seated jealousy. Are you saying that every single person suffering from this condition which is way beyond one's control and is irreversible is deliberatly changing him/herself from being black to white and has to be ridiculed just as those with albinism are subjected to. Like the great son of the soil African musician Salief Keita of Mali when he was young. You lot can learn more about tolerance from Michael Jackson's hit - Black or White as it sums prejudice as ignorance. Then maybe your computing organ in your head could fill up the remaining spaces or be the size of a soccerball.
Proud Black man and forever MJ fan.

Shimane Mbuyisa to Urs 7/9/2009 3:32:55 PM
Not that I am making pronouncements on MJ's guilt or innocence. I was merely explaining what it means to settle out of court. No matter which way you look it at it, there is only one way in which the law looks at it, which is the explanation I have given. Why would the parents accept money? Probably because they were suing him civilly, not criminally. Had they opened a criminal case, the matter would have become the State's, and the child would be a mere witness. My guess is that they suing him civilly.

Poloya-Kolobe 7/9/2009 3:35:06 PM

All I can say is MJ had unchallenged ability (talent) Prince tried and failed. From my perception god create all of us diferently very few people or singers had that energy and potential I saw from that poor fellow man from a family of nine. Actually I have two kids both of them are not same, I have just discovered that the young one is too talkative and can talk the whole day. I never knew he had a problem until I took him t a psychological test. So, Michael might have been suffering from unknow behaviour. I can say I loved with him all his mistakes, he was human like me I also have mistakes and yet still my family and friends they accept me as I am. May your soul rest in peace Michael, who am I to judge you I am not God!

wikki wikki 7/9/2009 5:11:22 PM
Look ... I've never been an MJ fan, but I think it's time we leave the dude alone now. The guy went through the mill a few times in his life, more than most. There's really no need to churn anymore.

Thanks for the sentiment Chegoane, but you really shouldn't post stuff like this on News 24, unless you want to be bombarded with comments made by cynical average-joes. Nothing is EVER discussed here without "the usual suspects" throwing their drivel onto the comment wall. Meaningful discussion and conversation seems to have left News 24. It's a pity, because some of the opinion pieces here are actually worth reading.

G Star 7/9/2009 6:55:26 PM
I have really enjoyed this article!

You are innocent until proven gulity!
why dont you google Jordan Chandler, see how his story has changed, that his father told him to say that Michael Jackso was molesting him!It was extortion to make them rich!

this is the truth and that is why there was no incriminating evidence to support the allegations. MJ settled because he was at he hight of his career and did not want this whole sordid allegation to be hanging above his head, not as an admission of guilt!

The truth is after 1993, MJ changed, he became addicted to painkillers, tried to commit suicide and became a recluse. This was a man who has given his life to the needed and sick children of this world. Would you not go coo koo, if all you tried to do was good and you were persecuted?

Im so saddened by his death, becuase I really think he deserved alot more credit than he received on earth.

Rest in peace Michael, I love you!

thabo! 7/10/2009 1:02:50 AM
The man deserve better & maybe his personal life was there for everyone to see, judge & critisize.
Look inside yourself and think what the next person would say... about you.

Irene D 7/10/2009 8:29:06 AM
Michael was a tragic figure, but he was used to light up millions of lives. Your music and dancing will never be forgotten. For those who become tired of Michael mania, switch to something else instead of taking all your time to write comments. Work sparingly with your time. I can listen to him every hour of the day.Dumbies just listen to his lyrics, look at the way he danced, his voice - no artist will ever equal him.

BB 7/10/2009 2:35:51 PM
@Pete. Vitiligo (Patches - not whole body and altering the shape of face and nose). People will believe anything. MJ's "Vitiligo" increased everytime he went for plastic surgery, it even rubbed off on his children.
