'Let Michael RIP'

by Shana
2009-07-02 08:08

Dear Editor,

I sit at work every day and look at the way the media invades the late Michael Jackson's privacy and I am truly shocked.

I have been seeing this famed man in the media since I was a little girl and personally have never really been a fan.

Not because I had anything against him, his music was just not for me. Weird, I know!

I believe this man was pulled up to fame so fast he never had a chance to grow up. What is sad is that people that should have known better took advantage of his fame.

I mean, think about it, in normal circumstances, if I had become addicted to prescription drugs due to insomnia, my doctor took an oath to refer me to a psychiatrist.

Michael Jackson was so famous that the doctors did not want to leave him alone. They took advantage of his insecurities and instead of helping this little boy to grow up they managed to get more money out of him.

Worse yet, even though he has found eternal peace, the media will not let him rest in peace. What was his fault but to just be famous? I have heard every reason why he caused his own death but no person who was really willing to help him.

The journalist who went into his house pretending to be his friend, turned into an enemy who found the story he was looking for.

Sure he was hooked on drugs, but who gave him access to those drugs? Okay, so he his face was falling apart, who against better judgement did those surgeries, it certainly was not him.

All I am saying is that he was not alone in his discrepancies, he did have some aid, and since he has passed on, can't we have some sense to leave him alone.  As my mother always said, if you do not have something good to say, do not say it at all, especially when it comes to the dead.

This has turned into the usual media frenzy and untrue reports of what happened to him. I can see the headlines now how Micheal Jackson Conspiracy theory on why he was murdered. Let the man RIP. I was never a fan either but he was somebody's brother, son and father. They should be grieving in peace but we all know this is not going to happen.

morena 7/2/2009 8:18:27 AM
those i pretty serious accusation you laying against his doctor there, RIP Michael you were the best

morena 7/2/2009 8:23:48 AM
you mom is right but clearly you never listened to the advice she gave you

gone 7/2/2009 8:30:21 AM
What's even worse is how people, media included, are cashing in on his death. Yes, the man was an outstanding performer, and everybody and their mother knows that. Let's move on and remember the dude for one think only, his music.

WTF 7/2/2009 8:33:57 AM
When the media made him famous and he milked it for all it was worth, then it was fine. Now he's dead and the favour has been returned and that's not OK? Grow up...

ntobeko 7/2/2009 8:36:36 AM
let d guy rip coz all these questios and comments by the media has got nobody to answer
ntobeko

Glock 22 c 7/2/2009 8:40:44 AM
That is the media for you. They very seldom have something good to say about anyone.

Jaco 7/2/2009 8:41:59 AM
What is wrong with the media attention he made his fortune out of all these people, you choose your life if you want to be famous and make billions then you should expect the media and world will take an intrest in you, if you want a quiet life then do it but dont decide to be in the eye off the world make money and then dissapear thinking people will lose interest.

I agree with your mother you should listen to her, unless you have proof dont blame his doctors.

MJ Forever!! 7/2/2009 8:48:43 AM
I fully agree with you Shana, we should allow this man to RIP!! The fact that everyone now has their own version of events on how he was addicted to certain drugs..And his so called ex-wife claiming his not the father of the two eldest kids!! If his not then so be it, but why reveal that now...those kids grew up knowing him to be their dad..and they were happy...why are some people so intent on wrecking others lives or bad mouthing them after they've passed on..it's sick how many of us hunger for any slanderous news the media has to offer..no-one will ever know what MJ's last moments were like..let's just leave it there!

gina 7/2/2009 8:52:35 AM
I agree! I loved his music- he was a genius. We all have one or other addictions, he grew up in a different environment than normal people. Everybody needs to leave him alone and remember him the way he was. He is really only now becoming more famous than when he was alive. RIP Michael.

bongo 7/2/2009 8:55:50 AM
what are you failing to say..you should have listened to your mom..

LINDA 7/2/2009 8:57:59 AM
Obviously, he was a musical genius. However, the fact that he is dead does not absolve him of his "alledged" weaknesses. Do not forget the people that are still here, that have to live with, and come to terms with their encounters with him. The fact that someone dies does not automatically turn them into saints. Having said that, hopefully the people that encouraged him, fed him with all kinds of substances (no doubt at a fee), will be held responsible, and take the consequences. As for Michael, hopefully he finds the peace that was not his on earth.

CC 7/2/2009 9:00:41 AM
I don't think he really cares what we say and think of him at the moment. I know I wouldn't if I was famous and passed away.

Norm 7/2/2009 9:07:46 AM
He is dead, he has no privacy, or concerns about it. only the living care.
and they dont have anything but thier own interests at heart

JohnP 7/2/2009 9:08:40 AM
WHAT WAS MICHAEL JACKSON'S LAST HIT........THE FLOOR

Sarah 7/2/2009 9:11:08 AM
how are the morals of the media any different to the morals of all the people who had no ties to him at all, crying and beating their chests in public in an artificial display of grief. Or for that matter, how are the morals of the media any different to the morals of the family members who are all greedily reaching out for "their" share... Point all the fingers you want, but when it comes right down to it, it's not just the media at fault!

Tired 7/2/2009 9:11:12 AM
I wish all this hub would go away after all he was just a human like the rest of us nothing special in my eyes at all yet he had so many crazed followers obviously crazed people like that have no lives.

ALIDA 7/2/2009 9:12:25 AM
he is gone ... so be it get over it now and remember the brilliant fantastic person he was when he was alive... helping others... I will always love him... no matter what the media have to day I love u Michael xx

Maverick 7/2/2009 9:19:32 AM
If you want to be popular and earn your living this way then the price you pay is to give up your privacy. MJ was a very sad and lonely person who tried to change the way he was created. In sted of honoring his creator with his life he tried to honor himself, look at the result.

@JohnP 7/2/2009 9:22:56 AM
HAAAAAA AAAAAAA, the floor, good one ..

LG 7/2/2009 9:32:06 AM
I agree with Shana. People please stop with the insults and just let it go now. He was not perfect just like us. Enough now.

Tumelo 7/2/2009 9:33:13 AM
While I agree with your wise mother, I think there are lessons we should learn from this troubled life (and your mom will agree with me).

One,identity is very important and forms part of a persons foundation. No matter how you try, you can not contradict the identity that god gave you. If you do, this is what will come out of you;a carcass which has been preyed on by vultures.

Secondly, its very important that if you decide being a parent to do the best of that role. Wackos parents failed him, he was not shown parental love, never guided and his self worth was never developed. This is a risk most in this forum stand to be subjected to. Racist stereotypes that they hold towards people who dont look like them, will rub on their young and turn these innocent souls to societal outcasts.

Faqu 7/2/2009 9:37:19 AM
It really doesn't matter, he is gone and all his life he was very secretive, now its time for people to go witch hunting as always....it will get boring after the 5th documentary, conspiracy films they going to make from this. Anyway its exciting for people as their lives will never be as weird as MJ's, so its only human nature to be that curious. He did a lot of good, but MJ was a weirdo also behind closed doors.

Za 7/2/2009 9:38:21 AM
I really dont understand what the hullabaloo is all about. He was human just like us. made mistakes just like us. yep ... he was taken for a ride for sure. now lets all let him rest in peace.

Jack 7/2/2009 9:41:46 AM
People will always be fascinated by freaks. Check out Ripley's Believe It Or Not.

Rae 7/2/2009 9:44:13 AM
Yep that's what we do best. "Kick them while they are down"

Mandy @ JohnP 7/2/2009 9:46:32 AM
Love your comment. Some of his music was good, but really people, it is not the end of the world. You live, you die. It is called life. Now carry on with yours please.

Jewels 7/2/2009 9:55:28 AM
I for one agree with Shana! Leave MJ alone. I have a very precious piece of paper on where MJ signed his name. I bumped into him at Sun City a few years ago , and he was the nicest man possible. Very Shy , Gentle and just a very vulnerable person who was taken advantage of in life. I grew up with is music in my ears.. and I am a fan of his and will be for as long as I live. As for all the allegations against him , they weren't true !! The first boy who accused him of sexually molesting him , Evan Chandler, has just come out in the open saying it was all lies. Go on , Google it for yourselves. The second case , in 2003 , I watched on a daily basis and the so called sick , cancer boy was a money freak , and a blatant liar, his Mother was even worse. Michael Jacksons defense team took them out to the cleaners in court . Jay Leno testified in court that he too , had been contacted by the very same sick boy and his mother for money and assistance in hospital bills.
Rest in Peace Micheal ....

Zoe 7/2/2009 10:00:58 AM
If only ppl will understand that "whn a person dies, his love, hatred & pain ends" then the media will stop being obssessed with MJ.It's up to the living, how they want to remember their loved ones who have passed. In the last day " the love of many shall grow cold". Everybody is in this for the Love of money, but the good part about it will all die & not take it with us. May is soul RIP

MJ Fan 7/2/2009 10:01:50 AM

WM 7/2/2009 10:03:24 AM
RIP JACKO,You will be missed

Tdo 7/2/2009 10:06:18 AM
Of course MJ is resting in peace...as in, I hope all dead people rest in peace. Talking about him does not disturb his rest, just as not talking about him does not necessarily guarantee his rest in peace. He was talked and written about when he was alive, surely the same can be expected in death. If there were concerns about his well-being, they would have served him better when he was alive than dead. So let the people do what they will...and don't always believe what your mama tells you.

SimonP 7/2/2009 10:06:21 AM
The media made the guy millions and kept him out of prison. All I hope is that Bubbles is well looked after in the will.

worried 7/2/2009 10:08:10 AM
Shana You should listen to your mum next time, okay!

Michael Fan 7/2/2009 10:08:56 AM
Blah Blah Blah, please let the man R.I.P
We love you MJ....

Lily White 7/2/2009 10:09:46 AM
MJ was a special person, who in the 50 years he was on this earth did more than all of you put together. For that, there will always be interest in him. As there is interest in Presley, Monroe, Hendricks, Kennedy(all the dead ones), Princess Diana etc. His death will be milked for all it's worth. That's just how things are. As for his life, I rather cherish the good memories of MJ and the inspiration he provided for most of us while growing up.

bratt 7/2/2009 10:12:58 AM
@WTF - The media did not make MJ famous. The media was milking him for all it was worth all along. He was not born in the era of "Idols" where for sure the media plays a part in making the star. MJ was a star before the media took notice. Then they cashed in...

Ronnie 7/2/2009 10:29:56 AM
I normally am a fan of Zapiro (cartoonist), but after seeing his weekend's cartoon, I feel even he has now overstepped the line of sensible reporting. I am now a disappointed fan of Zapiro.

Paul A 7/2/2009 10:35:16 AM
It amazes me how many of you out there cannot read, let alone understand the content of an article. All of you should go back to school.....

Sello 7/2/2009 10:40:22 AM
It was good for him when the media made him famous and popular, and as a result, wealthy. We can't expect the media to suddendly back off now that it does not suit the late Michael Jackson. Have you ever heard of the words "Live by the sword, die by the sword"? It goes without saying that if you live by something, that something will also go down with you in the end, just like people who have been drinking alcohol all their adult lives and they died an alcohol-related death. You can't suddenly blame alcohol. Michael used to enjoy public appearances and media attention, now the media is right to crowd around the cause of his death.

BTK 7/2/2009 10:45:43 AM
Shana:
you cannot choose what you want the media to deliver to the public. That is the price of fame. Jackson made millions via the media. The media will cover your good and your bad side. The media needs to sell magazines, newspapers to keep thousands of people employed, that is life. I bet if you were working at poop holes magazine, you would not be complaining.
The media makes you.....

and then they can break you... (it all depends on you, the artist)

Michael 7/2/2009 10:48:50 AM
I personally don't care about what his life was like. He was a brilliant musician and that's that.

Michelle 7/2/2009 10:57:04 AM
I agree with you. People love to hate him because he rose above all the bad things that happened to him e.g. his parents, the false child abuse allegations, the self-hatred, to be the greatest celebrity ever. Long live the King.

Jakine 7/2/2009 11:33:51 AM
i do agree with the statement that is made above.he was just a boy who was never given a chance to grow up even in the age that he reached of 50years old he still had that little by inside him wanting to come out and everyone took avantage of that same on all of you.GOD won`t let you go unpunished. I was a little boy when MJ made big and i grew up with him being the KING OF POP. People are just jealous of him even when his dead they still jealous he was better then all of them. I will never forget you MJ.

Chillibite 7/2/2009 11:34:32 AM
let the king of pop RIP.....Your legacy will live on forever......luv u MJ

WLR 7/2/2009 11:42:54 AM
If he wanted privacy, he should have become and accountant....

Althea 7/2/2009 11:48:00 AM
Truly I agree with Shana, Michael was helped along by all the doctors just seeking to milk him. He was a legend, and I for one have been his greatest fan all my life.... Why don't they just leave him alone as he said in one of his songs always dogging him around his only greatest mistake was to be the best that he could be "A legend" instead of tearing him down why don't the media concentrate on the good he done even the allegations against him of abuse, he was found not guilty in a court of law let it rest if the law saw it fit to find him not guilty why should you now slander his name at a time when his family and true friends are grieving his loss...Michael was and will always be the "King of Pop" and will live on long in our hearts and in his music which has always brought a smile to my face...if he was so bad why are they hundreds and thousands of fans daily posting blogs, sending messages and heart broken, the fact that his concerts sold out so quickly is proof that he was and will always be a Legend.....RIP Michael...

CJ 7/2/2009 12:08:04 PM
I feel desperately sorry for MJ's family and friends. He was an unusual and very talented human being and we should remeber him for that. Listen to the words of his song CHILDWOOD and I think you will see what he was really about. RIP MJ

ENrust 7/2/2009 12:09:16 PM
MJ lived a reasonably long life. I know a lot of people who died in their 20's and 30's so he was blessed to live until 50. Now let's move on, there are more important things in life to waste our time on than someone who get his fair share of an exciting life.

Loula 7/2/2009 2:06:23 PM
I fully agree with the news 24 user. Leave Michael alone and let him RIP. The media should find some other story to sell newspapers.

BB23 7/2/2009 3:38:37 PM
Personally never was a great fan, became less of a fan when the charges were brought up against him, and when he hung his child out the balcony. Yes, please let him rest in peace, so that the radio stations can go back to playing real music again, and I don't have to see his plastic face plastered everywhere...

Tired@BB23 7/3/2009 2:04:51 PM
thank goodness we share the same view while the rest of the world has gone dotty!!!!

Not a fan 7/6/2009 3:48:36 PM
Enough already the man lived and died like everyone else does on this earth. All these cospiracy theories will not bring him back.

BB23 i hear you please everyone lets have our normal music back. I dont know how many times i have heard Thriller and Heal the world in the past week...........

SHANA 7/9/2009 7:33:53 AM
I read the comments and I dont believe Micheal milked the media for all it was worth. He was a true entertainer, and lived to entertain. If he milked the media as most would say, he would not have covered his kids faces. What most considered weird was actually a lion protecting her cubs, I'm a mother I think I would recognise it. And right he was, as soon as the kids are exposed to the public, there comes a story of these kids not being his biological ones. Why? Simply because they looked white? It's easy to say that's the price of fame but very hard to swallow when you are famous. All I'm saying is the man is as human as you and me, if it were you, would you want your kids to suffer after you are gone? What hurt his little girl the most was the 'spins' the media puts on his life...
Also, I'm not saying these doctors are guilty of a crime, all I'm trying to say would he have been given those drugs for so long if it was you or me? Would that plastic surgeon have gone bananas on my face, the way he did with MJ?
Be objective ppl, dont make him out to be the bad guy, there are far more worse ppl in the world
